ISTEP+ and IRead-3 Testing Approaching The ISTEP+ and IRead-3 tests are coming up soon for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Testing for ISTEP+ will begin the week of Feb. 26 with the IRead-3 test for 3rd grade students taking place the following week on Tuesday, March 6. Our students have been working hard all year long, so we are excited to see them show off their smarts on the tests! Fight Like Ty Blood Drive A blood drive has been organized in honor of Tyler Ralstin. The drive will take place on Feb. 26 from 2:00 pm -7:00 pm in the MCE Cafeteria. Additional information will be coming home in fliers within the next few weeks. If you would like to go ahead and schedule your donation, you can visit https://www.donorpoint.org to create an appointment online. We will also have sign up sheets here at school, or you can just show up the day of the drive if you prefer! Let s all raise our sleeves and #FightLikeTy!!! Mt. Vernon Optimist Tri-Star Basketball Contest The Mt. Vernon Optimist Club will hold their annual Tri-Star Basketball Contest this Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, from 9 am - 12 pm at Fortville Elementary School for boys and girls ages 8 through 13 (as of March 15). The contest consists of 3 events, Dribble, Pass, and Shoot, and the 3 best scores in each age bracket for both boys and girls will receive a trophy. The winners in each bracket will advance to a regional event at New Castle in March. If you have any questions, please contact Butch Milender at 317-418-5554. CoGAT High Ability Assessment Our district requires additional information on the academic needs and performance of individual children in order to ensure that the school corporation is providing instruction at the appropriate level for each child. Depending on the information needed, your child may be administered a screener for the CoGAT High abilities assessment.
