Huntington County 4-H volunteers Reel FUN Reel FRIENDS Reel MEMORIES 4-H Making the Best...Better! 4-H Officer Training Workshop Sixteen 4-H Jr Leaders and two members from other clubs attended the Countywide officer training program. Four Ball State 4-H Collegiate members presented the program. They discussed parliamentary procedures, and the responsibilities of officers. They reenforced what they covered with several games. Recreation Rabbit Workshop 4honline 4honline is still open for new members; to add a project; sign up for a workshop; and to drop a workshop. It is also open for you to enter your Steers, Heifers (including Dairy), Swine, Goats, Sheep, and Horse & Pony. Be sure to enter your Steers and Non- Registered Heifers by April 1. Registered Heifers by May 15. Swine, Goats, and Sheep by May 15. Horse & Pony entries must be in 4honline by May 15. Starter Calves will be open from April 4 May 15. Rabbits will register in 4honline this year by May 15. THIS IS NEW. There will not be a paper form this year. Enter the information for any and all rabbits you think you MIGHT bring to the 4-H Fair. When you go into FairEntry in June your rabbits will already be there and you can select the classes for those rabbits. FairEntry For ALL ANIMALS we know that between July 1 and the 4-H Fair things can happen. You can drop animals, change classes, add an animal that was signed up by the May 15 deadline. Poultry will do only FairEntry for this year. For ALL STATIC (NON ANIMAL) projects you will also need to enter what you plan to exhibit in FairEntry between June 1 and July 1. Rabbit Workshops February 15 7 8:30 p.m. First Federal Savings Bank Community Building These workshops are geared for beginners to the project. Parents or adult helpers are encouraged to attend with the 4-H Member. The February meetings is on specific breeds. Encourage members to RSVP to the Extension Office so we can have their breed information available to them. Let s make this FUN!!! 4-H Recreation Training March 9 This program is for 4-H Members and volunteers. We may also have visitors from other counties that will be joining us! It will be Thursday, March 9 at iab Financial Bank, Heritage Hall @ the Fairgrounds. The program will be from 7 8:30 p.m. Mr. Recreation Fred Rosemeyer will be our leader for this ACTIVE program! PLEASE invite kids from your club to attend!!! Please RSVP for this event so we will know how many handouts and refreshments to have ready. You can call the office to RSVP. Fair Board of Directors: Alan Amick and Gary Will Roll out the red carpet and make them feel welcome! Science Investigators! Encourage youth in grades 6 8 to be a part of Science Investigators! It will be from 4:30 6 pm @ Purdue Extension Office. The cost is $10 for 4-H members. $25 for youth not currently in 4-H. There will be 6 sessions: March 28, April 11, April 18, May 2, May 9, and May 16. Each session will be different and filled with HANDS ON activities and experiments. These are awesome opportunities for you to meet with volunteers from this part of the state and find out what is NEW in the 4-H program. What s the newest with the Livestock projects. Judges Clinic March 7 iab Financial Bank Heritage Hall, Huntington. This program will be for volunteers and possible 4-H Judges. It is an opportunity for people that want to be a judge to get on the area judges list plus pick up skills that will help you be a better 4-H Judge. This workshop is also for volunteers and club leaders that want to be able to help their members to understand what judges are looking for when judging and what they can do to be better prepared. More information will be coming. Save this evening if you are interested in becoming a 4-H Judge. Protecting Minor Children this training is currently required once every two years. You may have gotten an email from us asking you to complete this training. It takes about 20 minutes. It is available from your 4honline account. Go to [Trainings] then [Register for Training]. It will be the only option to come up. New 4-H Volunteer Training this training is STRONGLY suggested for all volunteers. It will help you to understand the 4-H program; the policies that govern it nationally and here in Indiana; plus what it means when you agree to be a 4-H Volunteer. February 25 Benefit Auction and Pork Chop Dinner iab Financial Bank Heritage Hall All 4-H Families are invited to come and support this event. This is how we raise money for the upkeep of the Fairgrounds and Buildings as well as the 4-H Fair. This event only happens every other year. The funds that are raised will support 4-H for TWO years. Supper from 4 6 p.m. 1 chop dinner $8 2 chop dinner $10 (chips, green beans, roll, salad, dessert, and drink). Kids meal $5 (hot dog, applesauce, chips, green beans, dessert and drink). Benefit Auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. Please donate an item for the auction or support with your attendance.
