IAAF WORLD INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS This brochure was made by Czech Athletic Federation s Communications Department. www.atletika.cz

Kateřina CACHOVÁ (heptathlon) born: 26. 2. 1990 Ostrava club: Univerzitní sportovní klub Praha coach: Martina Blažková PB: heptahlon - 6328/2016 2017: heptathlon - 6373w/6264 Kladno 17. - 18. 6. DEAR FRIENDS OF ATHLETICS, Czech athletic team is delighted to come back again to Great Britain, where our sport and sports in general feel so appreciated and the organization is at the highest level. Both mentioned aspects of a successful sporting event we experienced couple of months ago in London, and I am sure we will enjoy in Birmingham in first days of March. World of athletics is changing as the world of sports and society are. In these circumstances, championships are shrinking their programs to provide concentrated, exhilarating experience for the crowd. Hand in hand, entry standards are getting tougher for the athletes to fulfil. That is why we are here in the Czech Republic pretty happy to send the largest team in the history of IAAF World Indoor Championships. We are glad Czech team for Birmingham includes both experienced top athletes and young promising ones. The first group is our flagship we rely on now, the latter are those who we believe for as bright future as possible. I am looking forward to see how all of them will strive to recast her or his hard work in maximum performance, personal & seasonal bests or even a medal in Birmingham. Although athletics is an individual sport, I am very happy we send both relay teams. Czech Republic has long history of successes both in women s and men s 4x400m, and I am convinced relays with their team spirit arouse hint of something more in our otherwise strongly individual sport of athletics. I am sure, the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham will prove as a dignified opener of the 2018 athletics season. The season that will have its global climax in Ostrava, Czech Republic at the IAAF Continental Cup in September. I am really looking forward to meet the athletics world in Great Britain once again, as well as welcome later in our country.
