YEDA Individual Placement Form Rule In order to compete in YEDA shows, an individual member showing YEDA must submit a completed YEDA Individual Placement Form to the Team Coach who will sign and forward it to the CFO, listed below prior to the Member s first show. Coaches are responsible for accurately evaluating a rider in the appropriate division. An Individual Placement Form must be retained annually for the entirety of students eligibility, and shall include the following: (NOTE: because of the yes/no format of this form, the questions in each section are not intended to always match the class description of the same section. Rather, a yes answer in one section is, in many cases, an affirmation of the rider being over-qualified for the class description in the next lower class.) All of the following questions must be answered Notes: Recognized competitions for Western Riders include any competition that is sanctioned by the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA); National Reining Horse Association (NRHA); Pinto Horse Association (PtHA); American Paint Horse Association (APHA); or Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC), only in classes which national point records are kept, and excluding NRHA Green Reiner Classes. Instruction : any number of mounted lessons taken within a week (Monday - Sunday) constitutes a week of instruction. Academic Year : for YEDA purposes it means the grade the rider is enrolled in from fall to spring Open Flat & Fences Hunt Seat Riders may not be placed lower than Emerald Western Horsemanship All class descriptions refer to the guidelines specified in Rule R32.

Class 1 & 2 : Pearl Western Horsemanship Pearl riders are students riders of any skill level that walk jog and who are riders currently enrolled in 4th of 5th grade for the school year of competition. Pearl riders have two years of eligibility starting with their initial completion of the YEDA Individual Membership Form. Are you in the entering the 4th or 5th grade for this competition year? YES NO Classes 3, 4, 11 & 12 : Opal Western Horsemanship Opal riders are Walk-jog students who are beginning riders who have not had more than twenty-four (24) weeks of mounted instruction, and who have not competed in mounted competition which require them to canter or lope. Opal riders have two years of eligibility starting with their initial completion of the YEDA Individual Membership Form. Have you had less than 24 continuous weeks of instruction in any discipline? YES NO Have you ever competed in a class that required you to lope/canter? YES NO Classes 5, 6, 13 & 14 : Emerald Western Horsemanship Emerald riders are students that have competed in 8 or fewer open non recognized shows that require them to lope or canter. These students also have had more than twenty-four (24) weeks of mounted instruction who have competed in non-recognized competitions which require them to lope or canter. These riders typically come from 4-H or open horse show circuits. Have you competed in 8 fewer open or 4-H shows which require you to lope or canter? YES Have you had more than 24 continuous weeks of instruction in any discipline? YES NO NO Classes 7, 8, 15, & 16 : Ruby Western Horsemanship Ruby riders have competed in more than eight (8) open and/or 4-H shows. Ruby riders are those who competed in recognized shows to include any western or hunterseat classes. Ruby riders may not have earned more than 25 points from any breed association (AQHA/APHA/PtHA/ApHC/NRHA ) including novice. This excludes roping, games, halter, showmanship 10 & under classes, and/or nonloping classes. Have you competed in a recognized AQHA/APHA/ PtHA/ApHC/NRHA show? Classes 9, 10, 17, & 18 : Sapphire Western Horsemanship Sapphire riders are those who have won more than five (5) blue western horsemanship ribbons in recognized competitions in classes with five or more competitors. This includes novice classes, riders who have earned 26 or more points from any breed association in western/hunterseat classes, excluding roping, games, halter showmanship, or non-loping classes. Sapphire riders are those who have competed in an AQHA/APHA/PtHA/ApHC/NRHA World Championship, or finished the year Top Three in State or affiliate AQHA/APHA/PtHA/ApHC/NRHA in a western class excluding roping, games, halter, or showmanship. Have you won more than 5 blue western horsemanship ribbons in YES NO recognized competitions, in classes of 5 or more riders? Have you earned 26 or more points from any breed association in YES NO Western/Hunterseat classes? Have you competed in an AQHA/APHA/PtHA/ApHC/NRHA World YES NO Championship in a western/hunterseat class? Class 19 : Diamond Western Horsemanship Diamond riders are those who have finished in Top Five in any non-gaited breed National yearend standings or finished in the top 10 of the AQHA/APHA/PtHA/ApHC/NRHA World/Congress Championships in a wester/hunterseat class excluding roping, games, halter, showmanship, or novice classes. Have you ever finished in the Top five of ANY non-gaited breed YES NO National yearend standings?
