Dear supporters of the performing arts, We re excited to jump into another school year, and our shows will take audiences to amazing new places. We will again be joining forces with Cortez Middle School by offering opportunities for patrons and sponsors to support both programs with our ULTIMATE packages. CMS will be performing two shows, Emma! a pop musical based on the novel by Jane Austen in the fall and the dramatic true story of Helen Keller, The Miracle Worker in the spring, both under the direction of Angela Gabardi, and M-CHS will have two shows. Our first show of the season will take audiences to the fantasy world of Narnia in C.S. Lewis The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Four children travel through a magical wardrobe into a world held in eternal winter by an evil witch. Featuring a variety of mythical creatures and talking animals, this show will be a unique challenge in puppetry and creature creation, and we re excited to tackle this project. Our second production will be the classic musical The Music Man. Professor Harold Hill is a con man who sells band instruments, even though he doesn t know anything about music. When he arrives in the small town of River City, Iowa, he meets his greatest challenge yet. We will continue to fine tune our systems this year, from our website to online ticket purchasing to bring you a quality theatre experience. We hope you will join us on our journey this season, and as always, thank you for your support of the M-CHS Theatre! Our Shows This Season The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe November 9, 10, 16, 17 at 7pm with matinees on November 10 & 17 at 2pm Journey into the wardrobe with the Pevensie children into the magical world of Narnia, where the evil White Witch rules with an eternal winter. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy join a mythical cast of talking animals lead by the majestic Aslan the lion in a battle to save Narnia. Complex puppetry, dazzling costumes, and enchanting sets are sure to make this a play you won t want to miss. The Music Man March 8, 9, 15, 16 at 7pm with matinees on March 9 & 16 at 2pm Meredith Willson s classic musical is sure to put a march in your step and a song in your heart. Professor Harold Hill is a traveling salesman who sells band instruments and uniforms. The problem is he doesn t know a thing about music, and his goal is to con people out of their money and get away on the next train out of town. When he meets the citizens of River City, Iowa, and their skeptical librarian, Marian, he has finally met his match. Celebrating over 60 years, The Music Man is full of songs you ll know and characters you ll never forget.

Cortez Middle School 450 West 2nd St. Cortez, CO 81321 Junior Thespian Troupe 89554 Montezuma Cortez Middle School Theatre is Proud to Present 2018-2019 Season ~Victorious Voices ~ Emma! A Pop Musical November 2nd @ 7:00 p.m. November 3rd @ 2:00 p.m. November 3rd @ 7:00 p.m. The Miracle Worker April 12th @ 7:00 p.m. April 13th @ 2:00 p.m. April 13th @ 7:00 p.m.

Dear Theatre Friends, Last season was so much fun. We embarked on the challenging and beloved musical, Into the Woods, JR. We also brought to life Norton Juster s classic novel, The Phantom Tollbooth. Our students met every challenge with humor, talent, and grace. Each show brought new challenges from difficult music, to sassy cars, and complex characters, but our amazing theatre artists never gave up. At the end of the year we inducted our first Junior Thespian Troupe, Troupe 89554. How do we top a season like that? Well, we take on more fun challenges, and make some more historical choices. We will begin our season with Eric Price s, Emma! A Pop Musical, and will will finish the year with our first dramatic play, The Miracle Worker. Both of these shows focus on the power of voice, fighting for what s right, and learning from the choices we make. The 2018-2019 season is sure to bring both tears and laughter, and we cannot wait to share it all with you. Just a friendly reminder, we are now Montezuma Cortez Middle School. We are the Panthers, just like our friends at Montezuma Cortez High School. JAG/DAC will always be remembered in our historical documents, but since we are no longer the Jaguars, our program will take on the name of MCMS Theatre. Angela Gabardi MCMS Theatre Emma! A Pop Musical By Eric Price With Permission From Playscripts Emma, a senior at Highbury Prep, is certain she knows what's best for her classmates' love lives, and is determined to find the perfect boyfriend for shy sophomore Harriet by the end of the school year. But will Emma's relentless matchmaking get in the way of finding her own happiness? Based on Jane Austen's classic novel, this sparkling new musical features the hit songs of legendary girl groups and iconic female singers from The Supremes to Katy Perry. Girl power has never sounded so good! Playscripts The Miracle Worker By William Gibson With Permission from Samuel French Immortalized onstage and screen by Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, this classic tells the story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind and mute Helen Keller. The Miracle Worker dramatizes the volatile relationship between the lonely teacher and her charge. Samuel French

Become a Patron Save Money and Support the Arts! Q: What is a patron? A: A patron is a supporter of our troupe, who purchases season tickets for our shows. Q: Why should I become a patron? A: You get discounted tickets, priority seating for the shows, your name or the name of your business listed in the programs for each show, AND the undying gratitude of the CMS & M-CHS Drama students. Q: How much does it cost to be a patron? A: Cortez Middle School and Montezuma-Cortez High School Drama Departments are working to collaborate even more this year, so we have a few options available: If you are only interested in the 2 shows at CMS, the cost of a patron is $25 for 2 tickets to each show. If you are only interested in the 2 shows at M-CHS, the cost of a patron is $35 for 2 tickets to each show. The more financial support we get from the community, the higher the quality of productions we can do in the future. Q: Can I help MCHS Theater in other ways? A: Definitely.
