Welcome to all the new members over the past three months. The new membership continues to be very strong. I want all the members to know that we appreciate everyone who is a member of Palmyra Sportsmen and we continue to strive to make our facility the best that it can be. Sometimes that takes more time than we think it should. I will assure you that we are always doing our best to be the best, no matter what. Please do not hesitate to stop and see me and discuss any issues or ideas you may have. I am extremely busy, but never too busy to have a conversation with a member who has an idea or needs help! My door is always open. Thank you to all of our volunteers and for those of you, who are new to helping at the club. As always, volunteers are greatly appreciated and we cannot accomplish our goals without them! I hope that all of the fishermen are enjoying the outstanding resource that we have in the Quitty. I want to thank Dale Waybright for his unwavering dedication to the nursery. This is a 365-day per year commitment to raising fish and taking care of the nursery. It also involves stocking fish and working with some of our volunteers who help. I also want to thank the Gentlemen who were running the club in 1980 when we made one of the greatest purchases in our history. That was the purchase of the 88 acres, of which approximately 1.5 miles contains the Quitty that I mentioned above. Without the foresight and leadership of these leaders, we may not be enjoying the great fishing resource we so lovingly call the Quitty! In closing, it is with great pride and 42 years of experience at PSA, that continues to motivate me to move forward. To strive to be better tomorrow that we were yesterday. Sometimes that challenge is difficult and sometimes it is relatively easy. No matter what, we strive to move forward and always do the right thing for PSA. Thank you to everyone for allowing me the opportunity to be part of our great organization! Thank you in advance to your prompt attention to this very important matter. ******************************************************************************************************************* Friends of NRA (FNRA) Banquet Want to get involved but don t know how to help??? The Friends of NRA is the perfect solution! This group is the non-political arm of the NRA raising money for the youth shooting sports. Spreading the love of shooting on to our children is the only way to ensure these sports are passed down to the younger generations. The Friends of NRA grants benefit programs such as youth education, hunter education, conservation, firearms and marksmanship training and safety, and much more. Our big fundraiser is a banquet on Sunday, May 15, 2016. It is an evening of games, raffles, silent and live auctions, food and fellowship! We are still looking for donations for our Ladies Table. If anyone is interested in donating a basket, i.e. Tastefully Simply, Pampered Chef, Bath and Body Works, etc. or any other items, please contact Valerie Angeli at 717-534-2287. If you have any questions, would like to volunteer, or attend our banquet, please call Valerie Angeli at 717-534-2287. Please check our Website for information on the FNRA Banquet. Also, Palmyra Sportsmen's will invest $1,050.00 in our banquet to buy 35 tickets. Please contact Skip who is handling these tickets at 717-832-0488. We still have the majority of these available. The rules are: (1) you must be a member of the club and never have been to one of our PSA FNRA Banquets. Following the Palmyra Invitational with nearly 300 competitors competing at our club in January, the Junior rifle team continued the indoor season with various Junior sectional matches at Ontelaunee and Palmyra and recently attended the PA State Junior Olympics 3- postion air rifle championships at DuBois. Most of the team went up early on Saturday to stay at a cabin in Elk county. The team relaxed and had some fun at the cabin and then later in the day went out and saw the Elk herd. We woke early the next day to 2 inches of fresh snow. At the match, the team did well. The precision team of Grace Nelson, Karly Potts, Alexa Potts, and Kyle Ordille fired a 2315/2400. The sporter team of Gillian Stewart, Brandon Zellers, James Fenton, and Josh Potts fired a score of 1932/2400. Each of the teams ended up winning their respective categories. As Individuals, Grace ended up winning the Bronze medal and Gillian fired an impressive 540 to win the Gold in the sporter division. Junior Rifle Team By Erin Gestl The following week the precision team of Grace, Karly, Alexa, and Mica Harr travelled to Camp Perry, Ohio to compete at the CMP Regional air rifle championships. After a day of checking-in and training, the team fired a team score 20 points higher than the previous week, a 2336, placing the team in first. On the second day, the team fired a score slightly lower with a total of 4669/4800, ended up winning the championship. During the individual competition, Grace and Karly made it into the finals of the top 8 competitors. Both had very good finals of 101.7 and 101.9, respectively. The team s performance earned them first at the Regional and a check for $1,500. The team will donate $1,000 to the club s Midway Endowment which will be matched resulting in a $2,000 increase in the club s account. This also qualified the team for the Nationals at Camp Perry in June. Their results at the Regional would currently place them third in the overall qualification. Alexa Potts, Karly Potts, Grace Nelson, and Mica Harr Junior Rifle Team at the cabin ****************************************************************************************************************************************** Membership Renewals and Changes REMINDER - You will receive a post card in the mail approximately 60 days before your membership is due for renewal.
