Please find inside all of the information you need regarding enrolments for School Sports Teams at Tauriko School this summer! If you have any questions about how these sports operate or what is involved, please check out our School Sports page on the website: www.tauriko.school.nz In this booklet, there are not only the enrolment forms, but also special information about the roles of Coaches and Managers of our school sports teams. We have also included our Fair Play Charter. Please read this carefully, as upon returning your child s enrolment form, we understand you agree to it. Sports Uniforms: For all sports you are required to wear the correct Tauriko School uniform - black shorts and a Tauriko red polo shirt. We have also been very successful with a grant for sports uniforms. If you are supplied with a Tauriko School Sports uniform this must be worn. Families are responsible for keeping this uniform in excellent condition and returning to school at the conclusion of the sports season. Damaged or lost uniforms will incur replacement fees. Signed slips and PAYMENT must be returned by Friday 18 th September (due to a very tight turn around NO LATE NOTICES CAN BE TAKEN). COACHES AND MANAGERS ROLES 2015 Firstly, thank you very much for accepting the job of taking on board the role of parent leadership of a school sports team! We can assure you that you will learn a great deal from this experience, have a lot of fun whilst doing it! you taking up this challenge. The school is very grateful for This flyer is designed as a way to establish roles and responsibilities of parents and make sure they are supported and knows what each job involves. COACHES Hold a training session one day a week (before / during / after school) if possible. Work at developing students skills and furthering their abilities. Organise students at games, make sure they know what position they are playing and they all have an equal amount of time playing (supporting weaker players with stronger players if necessary). Give feedback and encourage students for next steps in their future games. Work with the manager to select a player of the day. MANAGERS Ensure everyone has a draw or is aware of game times. Oversee team lists and make sure you have everyone s contact details. Contact team members if a game is cancelled or postponed. Manage the subbing at games on the coaches request. Be in charge of the player of the day certificates and decide along with the coach who receives it. Support the coaches with anything they may need assistance with. Any disputes or grievances with another team are to be discussed with the Tauriko School Sports Co-ordinator. Any necessary action will be appropriately managed by the Sports Co-ordinator and the School s Senior Leadership Team.

FLIPPA BALL - TERM 4, 2015 Day & Dates: Tuesday the 27 th October until Tuesday the 8 th December 2015. Venue: MEMORIAL POOL, TAURANGA. Times: Games could be between 4.00pm and 8.30pm. Cost: $50.00 for the season which includes pool entry. We would like to enter a Year 3 & 4 team and a Year 5 & 6 team if we have enough numbers, (min. 8 players required). To make it possible for your child to be a part of these teams, it is crucial to have the support of parents and family members. We are therefore looking for coaches and parents who are able to help manage the teams. All students need to commit to the entire season and be dedicated to make it to all the games (contacting coaches if they are not able to make it). Venue: MORLAND FOX PARK, GREERTON Times: Year 1 4 3.45pm and 4.10pm, Year 5 8 4.35pm and 5.00pm. Cost: $12.00 We would like to enter a Year 1 & 2 team, Year 3 & 4 team, Year 5 & 6 team, and a Year 7 & 8 team if we have enough numbers (min. 6 players required in each age group. Max. 8) To make it possible for your child to be a part of these teams, it is crucial to have the support of parents and family members. T-Ball (Yrs 1-3) & Softball (Yrs 4 8) TERM 4 2015 & Term 1 2016 Day & Date: Saturday 17 th October 2015 until end of term 1 2016. Venue: Carlton St Reserve, 412 Ngatai Rd, Otumoetai, Tauranga Times: T-Ball 8.30am 9.30am, Softball 10am 11.15am (approx.) Cost: $15.00 for the season. We would like to enter a T Ball team (year 1 3) and a Softball team (year 4 6) and a Tall Poppies Softball team if we have enough numbers, (min. 10 players required). To make it possible for your child to be a part of these teams, it is crucial to have the support of parents and family members. We are therefore looking for coaches and parents who are able to help manage the teams. All students need to commit to the entire season and be dedicated to make it to all the games (contacting coaches if they are not able to make it). Tennis - Term 4 2015 After School Tennis Coaching at School (Peter Blow), Thursdays or Fridays 2.30pm to 3.30pm Day & Date: Thursday or Friday depending age and ability, Thursday beginner and Friday intermediate. Start week 2 and finish week 9, total 8 weeks. Venue: Tauriko Court Times: 2.30pm to 3.30pm Equipment: All gear is supplied by coaching staff Cost: $30.00 with grant ($60.00 with no grant) We have put a grant application into Sport BOP to help cover some of the cost for this programme. We will be notified on the 14 th September as to whether we have been successful or not. We believe we have a high chance of being successful. **Please only pay $30.00 at this point and a letter will come home if we are unsuccessful with the school grant - an extra $30.00 will be required in this situation. Tauriko School Fair Play Charter THE FAIRPLAY PROMISE FOR TAURIKO PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS Good sport is about positive attitude. You can set the right tone, and help make the game a success. Play your part - play fair. To the best of my ability I will: Encourage my child, and other people s children, in their efforts in sport Insist that my child plays within the rules and by the principles of Fair Play Respect my child's efforts the same regardless of whether s/he has won or lost Display self-control on the side line. Always be positive. Never shout at or ridicule players Watch my child play and let him/her enjoy the game Show my appreciation to people who volunteer their time so my child can play Remember that my child plays sport for his/her reasons not mine Be a positive role model for my child Never place undue pressure on my child to play or perform Make an effort to understand the rules of the game Give it heaps and not get ugly Accept the decisions of officials and coaches Support good play and applaud good performance from all competitors THE FAIRPLAY PROMISE FOR PLAYERS Good sport is about positive attitude.
