President s Message Good Day Everyone. Well the members survived August month and hopefully have recovered. August is a busy month for the club with work duties and display camaraderie events. At the last meeting I mentioned this will be the last said of Memories on Main Street but seems it is not. I would like to thank all those who helped work ALL day till the end to make another successful Troy Car Show Saturday August 1st. We had no complaints. Our biggest complainer of this day won a 1st place and after the awards he was speechless. That is a first. That is why I judge full size trucks due to crabby. I will pick up a check from the Troy Chamber of Commerce tomorrow. Hope I don't cash it :P Another event was the display at Ernie Patti Sales and Leasing Saturday August 8th at the Route 66 Car Cruise and Show. This year the parade went in front of us and we all waved at parade goers this morning. We made the front yard look like an old car used car lot. We had 12 Oldsmobile on display with others stopping by to look at the cars on display. Jay of Ernie/Patti is a participant in a poker run as part of the event so there are cars coming in and out all afternoon. Jay had donuts for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch with drinks. This was a fun event after the work day at Troy. The next Saturday several members helped Shannon and Ron by judging at the 6th Annual Veterans Car Show held at the Purina Farms in Gray Summit. A hot day but we were her support this day. I wish to personally thank Ed,Charlie,Gerald,Larry,BOB,and Barb for their support and success of the car show. My apologies if I forgot anyone. Two members were awarded ribbons at this event, Larry a 1st place and Ed a 1st place. They received blue show ribbons. Thanks to BOB for having Fun Show fliers in his Oldsmobile trunk so we can work the two Oldsmobile at this show. Thanks BOB! We will see them both at the Fun Show. One was a 76 Cutlass with Hurst T-Tops. Another rare car. The same day Doc was not in charge but by running the judging in Arnold at the Arnold Historic Car Show. After speaking with Doc he made the even a success even with all the surprises. Thanks Doc for placing our Fun Show event listing under calendar events in the Old Cars Weekly. Sunday September 13th is the Wheels in Motion Day as proceeds benefit Children in their fight with Cancer. Last year we had 25 Oldsmobiles display for this good cause. We also had a bet with Classic Car Club who can get more cars there and the loser donates $200.00 in the other clubs name. Guess who won! One more time we are looking for volunteers to judge the Gateway Buick Shriner's Car Show Sunday September 20th at the Moolah Temple on Fee Fee Road close to Page extension Hwy 364 and the first exit Bennington go South to Fee fee at the stop light turn left and go 1.4 mile on the left. We have 11 volunteers and can use a few more if you have some time to volunteer. This goes to the Shriner's kids remember. Sunday September 27th is a little car event called the All Oldsmobile Fun Show you may want to attend this function. Everything is done for you. Just come and have a good time. Admission into the museum for all registrations. There is a new building on the lower lot with a food bar inside. (continued on next page) 2
