HALL OF FAME INVITATIONAL 2016 A GREAT SUCCESS The sixth annual Hall of Fame Invitational Golf Tournament at Fox Harb r Golf Resort was an overwhelming success raising important funds to support the Hall of Fame s province-wide education program. Two days of great golf, excellent weather, fine wine, gourmet food, outstanding entertainment, special guests and over $45,000 in gifting and prizing made this year s Invitational very special. Each person is wearing one of 5 medals that Ellie won at the 2015 PanAm Games in Toronto. Ellie won 3 gold, a silver and a bronze. Ellie also finished a historic 5th place at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Winners of the tournament, Todd Duffin, Connex Telecommunications and Stevan Lewis, SunLife were presented with the Fox Harb r Invitational Trophy, a Fox Harb r golf gift package and a signed limited edition print of The 16th at Fox Harb r painted by Hall of Famer Graham MacIntyre. Troy Harnish, Director of Sales for Rogers Communications and Matt Ettrick, Carrier B2B Channel Manager for Samsung Canada presented the tournament champions with their wonderful prizes. One of the most special moments of the event was the kind donation made by Brian Pritchard from Live Xchange. He purchased a beautiful 14K Diamond Necklace from the silent auction and presented it to Ellie Black in appreciation for her fantastic efforts and performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The Samsung Team of Wes McGuire, Freedom 55 Financial; Matt Ettrick, Samsung Canada; and Glenn Mowat, Rogers Communications joke around with teammate Jamie McNain from McNain Communications. Greg Rokos from ESI Technologies, was one of five contestants who participated in the chip off challenge at the wine reception on Thursday evening. Greg Rokos, with a chip of close to 5 feet to the hole, is the winner! Linda Weckman from L C Diamonds presents him with a beautiful pair of diamond earrings.
Live entertainment thrilled everyone! Award winning singer-songwriters Bruce Guthro and Heather Rankin were joined by host, Bruce Rainnie from CBC (middle), and guitar player Jamie Robinson. Over $15,000 worth of prizes were handed out during our Lucky Draws. Glen Taylor from Canadian Tire won a brand new Samsung A5 cellphone, while Scott Grover won a beautiful 10K white gold pendant from LC Diamonds. Two-time Olympian and former World Champion, Karen Furneaux, talks about what the Education Program means to her and how honoured she is to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
