Binghamton left a season-high 10 runners on base, batting 1-for-10 with men in scoring position. The B-Mets also committed a season-high three errors in the field defensively. Former Binghamton University star, Mike Augliera, held the B-Mets in check, picking up his first win of the season. The righty surrendered a run and six hits over five innings pitched. John Gant took the loss for Binghamton, surrendering four runs and eight hits in five innings pitched. Brandon Nimmo became the second B-Met to double twice in a game this season, going 3-for-5 in total. TJ Rivera chipped in two hits and Jayce Boyd drove in Binghamton s lone run in his first game back from a back injury. BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Seth Lugo makes his fourth start of the season and second consecutive against Portland. Lugo lasted 1.1 innings last time out against the Sea Dogs before rain suspended the game. The righty allowed three hits and three unearned runs in the outing. It was Lugo s only appearance in the past 15 days. Lugo has only allowed two earned runs in his first three starts, walking two and striking out 13 total batters. Both earned runs were surrendered in the fifth inning. Opponents are batting.182 against the starter in the first four innings of games and.412 after the fourth. The 25-year old was 8-3 with a 4.11 ERA in 27 appearances with St. Lucie (High-A) last season. This will be his second start at NYSEG Stadium. PORTLAND STARTER: RHP Mike McCarthy makes his fifth start of the season and second consecutive against Binghamton. In the first go-round, McCarthy allowed six runs and eight hits in four innings pitched for the loss. They were the first runs allowed in three starts, as McCarthy had won his previous two outings. 14 of 15 runs allowed by the righty have come after the third inning. It will be the righties second start on the road this season, having shutout Trenton in his first outing away from Hadlock Field. It will be the 27-year old s eighth career appearance against Binghamton, going 3-3 in the first seven. He s 1-2 in four starts at NYSEG Stadium. HITTING STREAKS: Three different B-Mets are currently riding current streaks of six games or more: Xorge Carrillo (6), Gavin Cecchini (10) and Eudy Pina (11). Pina s streak is the longest for a B-Met this season and the longest of his career since 2011(12). THIRD TIME S A CHARM: Josh Rodriguez is batting.333 this season, but has failed to record a hit in three consecutive games. His longest streak is two games, done five times. The game will be made up Tuesday as part of a doubleheader, the second of the season between the two teams. St. Lucie shut out Palm Beach, 4-0, Monday night. The Cardinals were held to one hit by Robert Gsellman over eight shutout innings, moving his record to 4-0. The Sand Gnats beat Lakewood, 6-3, Monday night to snap a six game losing streak. The Sand Gnats scored the final six runs of the game, three being driven in by Jean Rodriguez. The Cyclones will open their season on June 19 on the road against the Staten Island Yankees.
