Embracing life. Enriching lives. Living Life May / June, 2017 Thank you for everything you did for us while preparing for my parents move... Our family dynamic can be complicated and intense at times...you stayed calm and greatly accommodating to all of our many requests. -Family member of an Arbor Lakes resident Eagan Pointe Enjoys May Day Despite the Wintry Weather My siblings and I want to thank you for the quality services our mother continues to receive. -Family member of a Lilydale resident I just wanted to share with you that I already see a huge improvement in my mother! It s great. She is smiling and laughing again. -Family member of a Willows of Ramsey Hill resident A group of folk dancers visited Eagan Pointe on May Day. One of the dancers is the son of Eagan Pointe residents Bill and Barb Hodapp. The dance group usually dances in parks in celebration of May Day, but they asked if they could swing by Eagan Pointe and perform inside since it was SNOWING on May Day! See inside for more spring celebrations at Southview Senior Communities. Southview Senior Communities 1

Celebrating the Many Holidays of Spring On April Fool s Day, Inver Glen s activity team threw a delightful event the prizes were foolish! Everyone had a ball. Laughter truly is the best medicine! The Easter Bunny made a special appearance at Oak Park Senior Living on the Saturday before his big day. Along with getting their photo taken with the bunny, each resident received an Easter egg full of treats. (below)

The Villas of Oak Park hosted a St. Patty s Day Happy Hour. Residents got together to enjoy beer and wine, along with some yummy appetizers and St. Patrick s Day gear! Willows of Ramsey Hill residents made May Day baskets to hang on the doors. We even got some of the men to participate. We all had a good laugh, because as we were making our baskets it was snowing like crazy only in Minnesota! Southview Senior Communities 3

Southview s Sunshine Group Every year Southview Activities Director Cathy LaManna hosts a get together party to thank the Sunshine Group residents who volunteer their time to help out around Southview. These residents set up birthday parties, made-toorder breakfasts and other special events. With their help, events at Southview are a little more special. Paying it Forward at Shoreview Senior Living Residents joined together with Incarnation Lutheran Church to be part of the All Hands on Hope MobilePack for Feed My Starving Children. Our group packed 228 boxes, which is 49,248 meals that will feed 135 children for a year. It was a huge success and residents felt good that they could be a part of something so rewarding and help make such a big impact. Thank you, Incarnation and FMSC, for letting us be a part of your event.

St. Patrick s Day Celebration at Lilydale Lilydale residents, staff members, and family members celebrated all things green on March 17. Joe O Neill (left) joined in when he submitted his guess for the Lucky Charms marshmallow contest on St. Patrick s Day. Easter Eggs at Inver Glen Inver Glen residents colored Easter eggs with the young students from All Season s Preschool. Southview Senior Communities 5

Congrats to our Contest Winners! This issue s winners are Eagan Pointe Senior Living residents Roger and Kitty Johnson. They will receive a $30 Target gift card for thanking Residence Director Renee Belland-Wenda, Assistant Residence Director Mickey Hedeen and Maintenance staff member Jake Crandall for getting a problem within their apartment corrected promptly. They wrote: Thank you for all your help with our recent problem. We feel so lucky to have a team like yours when we need it. The Johnsons have lived at Eagan Pointe since September 2015. Roger is originally from South St. Paul, and Kitty is from West St. Paul. They moved to the Anoka/Coon Rapids area to work; Roger taught business and social studies, and Kitty worked as an RN in hospitals, family practice clinics, and school districts. They have three sons: one in Minnesota, one in Montana, and one in Ohio. They are all married and have given Roger and Kitty seven granddaughters. They love living at Eagan Pointe for multiple reasons: Location, Location, Location. They really like turnkey living; coming and going with no worries while they are away. Eagan Pointe is community living at its finest, they said. They have met many residents and enjoy their company, and the staff is so very helpful. Please consider writing a compliment to a staff member or resident and submitting it to the Residence Director. For each issue, we pick a random winner from all letters, emails, and memos submitted. Theater Troupe Visits Inver Glen To celebrate spring, Inver Glen residents were treated to a dramatic performance by the Day Trippers Theater troupe. Each skit included the audience members, props, animals and lots of laughter!

A Visit from Mrs. Minnesota Heather Johnson, Mrs. Minnesota United States 2017, visited Arbor Lakes residents. She shared her inspirational story and brought a ray of sunshine to our day. Heather lives in Maple Grove and plans to visit regularly to get to know the residents. We will welcome her back anytime. Arbor Lakes resident Gwen Chastain wears the crown proud! Spring is in the air and in art class! Residents in Southview s Garden Cove got crafty with some butterfly art to welcome spring. Director of Nursing Emily Hogg and her daughter, Marquia Bell, lent a hand. Aide Donna Peltier also joined in. Southview Senior Communities 7

Southview Senior Communities residents, staff members and family members made great memories...
