Springfield Primary School Forsythia Close Chelmsford Essex CM1 6XW Tel: 01245 461077 Fax: 01245 450201 Headteacher: Jacquelyn Pick 24 May 2018 NEWSLETTER Summer Term No 6 Attendance News We are pleased to advise that for week commencing 14 May 2018 the highest attendance were Hedgehogs with 99.3%. Y3 cake sale last week raised 224. Big congratulations to Y3 as they collected the most in the school. Thank you to all who took part and donated and bought cakes. St Christopher s Hospice This year instead of getting presents for my birthday I decided to raise money for St Christopher s Hospice. The reason for this is because they helped my Grandad spend his final months where he wanted to be, at home with his family and friends around him. The nurses at St Christopher s Hospice looked after him so well and made sure he was comfortable. I set up a Just Giving page and successfully raised over 1500. I am very happy that I helped St Christopher s Hospice carry on their amazing work. The hospice were so lovely and sent me a birthday card signed by all the fundraising team, they also want to do a piece on their website about my fundraising which is really exciting. Scarlett in Y6 Royal Wedding The children had a great day last Friday to celebrate the royal wedding. They looked fab in their red, white and blue or wedding outfits and also enjoyed a picnic lunch on the field. We were also lucky enough to have a visit from Harry and Meghan! Please see some of our photos on the app. Thank you to the PTA for their support and funding the event. The class winners for the best dressed, who won a 5 book voucher are: EYFS Charlotte Y1 Grace Y2 Loore Y3 Isabel Y4 Olivia Y5 Darcy Y6 George EYFS Molly won overall winner of Royal Crown. Congratulations to them all. Shop For Schools This is just a gentle reminder that The Meadows Shop for Schools competition will be ending in a few weeks time. Please would all ask for their tokens when they spend 10 or more at the centre, and to cast their votes before 1 June. The winning three schools will be announced 1000, 500 and 250 for their school. PTA News: Summer Fete - 7 July: Things are progressing nicely towards our main fundraiser of the year. Today is the last day to sign up to have an advertising board from our generous sponsors Charles David Casson, which will be up for around four weeks before the school fete. Please do consider this, as every board means an extra donation of funds into the school and benefits

all of our children. Family & friends can have them too! Please get in touch with one of the PTA members or email: springfieldprimarypta@gmail.com We are also looking for donations of crockery, bottles (of all sorts!), raffle prizes & soft toys. There will be a collection bin in the school reception after half term. If your children are members of any outside club that would be interested in "performing" in our arena at the fete, please do get in touch. We currently have Cheerleaders & Kazen Kai Karate, but more are welcome. They will be able to hand out their own advertising on the day. Adventure Island Tickets: Don't forget that you can get in touch with us to purchase reduced price Wrist Bands ready to use over the half term holiday. Contact us via our Facebook page or email. Tuck Shop: Our Tuck Shop returns tomorrow after school - lots of goodies on sale for 50p. Adventure Island tickets will also be available to buy. Royal Wedding: We were thrilled to be able to fund this extra special event for all the children last week and hope they all enjoyed having their pictures taken with the Royal Couple! Look out for a reappearance of these special visitors at the School Fete!
