INTRODUCTION The LED 14W POLO Bulkhead is a modern lowcost and energy efficient fitting ideal for domestic and utility applications. SPECIFICATION LED 1150lm IP54 220-240V IK09 4000K 50/ 60Hz >82 Ra 14W Dimensions: Ø: 315 x D: 74mm Maximum fittings per circuit: 15pcs LED: 64pcs of 2835 SMD LED Working Temperature: -15 C - 50 C BOX CONTENTS 1 x LED 14W POLO Bulkhead with Microwave Sensor 4 x Expansion plugs 4 x Screws SAFETY WARNING The installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with the current edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations. Prior to installation carry out the necessary risk assessment considering the people who could be at risk, the level of risk and the precautions required to control the risk. Ensure that the circuit supply is isolated either by the circuit supply fuse being removed or the applicable circuit breaker being turned off before installation or any maintenance. Check the total load on the circuit including the luminaire does not exceed the rating of the circuit cable, fuse or circuit breaker. If the fitting incorporates control gear, ensure careful sizing to avoid instances of nuisance tripping of the protective device used in the installation. Follow the provided installation instructions, using the fixings supplied or recommended.
1. Remove the diffuser and the trim from the base by rotating anti-clockwise to unlatch and then pull away. 2. Loosen the three gear tray retaining screws, rotate the gear tray anti-clockwise to align the screw heads with the large aperture of the keyhole slots and remove the gear tray from the base. There is a retaining strap to assist with the installation. 3. Prepare the mains supply cable and fixing points on the chosen mounting surface, ensuring it is able to support the weight of the fitting. 4. Pass the mains supply cable through the hole and grommet provided in the base, position the base to the mounting surface and secure using the screws provided. 5. It is the installer s responsibility to ensure the fixing points and cable entry point are appropriately sealed to maintain the IP54 rating. Silicone bathroom sealant or equivalent is recommended for this. 6. Route the mains supply cable to the terminal block on the gear tray and terminate, ensuring correct polarity is observed. 7. Secure the supply cable using the clamp provided in the base. 8. Refit the gear tray and secure by retightening the screws. 9. Refit the diffuser and trim by placing over the base and rotating clockwise until it locks into position. 10. Reconnect the power supply and check for correct operation. Note: A LED Bulkhead fitted with an electronic ballast is exempt from insulation resistance tests as this may cause damage to the ballast. POSITIONING - INSTRUCTIONS 1. The bulkhead and the detector should be sited so that the occupants of the room fall inside the detection patterns shown in the appropriate diagram on page three.
2. The diagram below is based on a ceiling mounting height of 2.5m. Note that the lower the sensor is installed, the smaller the detection range will be. 3. If wall mounted, the detection zone will vary depending on the surroundings but vertical reach will be at least 10m. 4. Both the areas closest to and vertical to the sensor will have the highest sensitivity. 5. The distances quoted are approximate and may vary depending on the surroundings. 6. Avoid direct sunlight entering the sensor. 7. Do not site within 1m of forced air heating or ventilation. 8. Do not fix to a vibrating surface. 9. Avoid placing metallic objects directly in front of the sensor head. 10. The sensor kit is capable of switching / controlling more than one fitting in a master and slave set up. This is done by linking non-sensored fittings (slaves) to the one with the sensor fitted (master), using the live output from the sensor. IMPORTANT! DO NOT link other fittings containing microwave sensors together in this way, as it can cause false triggering of the sensors.
SETTINGS The following adjustments can be made using the three dials located on the sensor unit. DISTANCE, TIME and LUX are adjustable via three rotatable dials. MAX MIN MAX MIN DISTANCE TIME MAX MIN LUX 1. DISTANCE Rotate the dial to control the diameter of the detection pattern, from 1m minimum (fully anti-clockwise) to 10m maximum (fully clockwise). The LED setting indicator will flash to indicate the setting selected, e.g. 10 flashes = 10m diameter. 2. TIME Rotate the dial to control the length of time the fitting will stay on after occupancy has ceased. From 10 seconds minimum (fully anti-clockwise) to 30 minutes maximum (fully clockwise). The LED setting indicator will flash to indicate the setting selected as follows: No. of Flashes Setting Length 1 10 seconds 2 1 minute 3 2 minutes 4 5 minutes 5 8 minutes 6 10 minutes 7 15 minutes 8 20 minutes 9 25 minutes 10 30 minutes
SETTINGS 3. LUX Rotate the dial to control the ambient light level at which the sensor will allow the fitting to switch on. This ranges from 2 lux minimum (fully anti-clockwise) to only switch on when very dark, through to 2000 lux maximum (fully clockwise) to always switch on regardless of the ambient light. Note: The fully clockwise setting should be used to check functionality on initial installation. FAULT FINDING If you are experiencing a problem please check through the following before making contact with our Customer Services department: Fault - Load does not come on Check to see if the live supply to the circuit is working. If the supply and wiring are good, check the LUX setting. Increase the LUX level setting to allow the sensor to turn on at a higher ambient light level (rotate dial clockwise). Fault - Load does not go off Ensure that the area is left unoccupied for longer than the selected timer setting. Make sure that the sensor is not adjacent to circulating air, heaters or lamps. If the unit false triggers reduce the DISTANCE level to narrow the area of detection (rotate dial anti clockwise). Ensure the fitting is not connected in parallel with other fittings containing microwave sensors.
MAINTENANCE Cleaning should be carried out at regular intervals so it retains the photometric performance and thermal safety of the fitting. When this fitting comes to the end of it s life or you choose to replace it, please do not dispose of it with your normal household waste. Please recycle where the facilities exist, check with your local authority or retailer for suitable options. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION A small amount of light is projected backwards for aesthetic purposes; this creates a halo effect on the mounting surface.
