Please remember that the AGM is on 25th October 2009 at the Hartnoll Hotel, it is your chance for your Club to have a say...if you do not attend...then do not put down any changes and amendments to the rules and regulations for 2010! Please also remember to get your date forms and club data forms back ASAP. JL PPs Pit stop... It is approaching two years since I was appointed as Chairman of the Association. In this time we have seen the reintroduction of the quarterly newsletter, results being issued by Championship COordinators to their contenders on a more regular basis. For the first time in five years (or so I am told!) we have held a road rallies liaison meeting which gave organisers, competitors and RLO s a chance to get together and discuss issues that affected all of them and it would appear to have been quite a successful meeting. For many years Cornwall has felt a remoteness to the Association, in this last year this has been addressed with Pam Hartill being appointed to the Executive as Liaison Officer for Cornwall. We have also capitalised on the growing popularity of Endurance Rallying by introducing our championship for 2009. The rest of the Championships have all been reviewed and assessed to find the strengths and weaknesses of each one and these have been addressed and changes have been made where necessary and the culmination will be at the AGM where all of the ASWMC s rules and regulations have alterations being proposed to them. I am fortunate that I have an absolute top line team working with me, Howard West, our General Secretary keeps me on the straight and narrow and is a wonderful organiser; Barry Luxton, who we are sadly about to lose but he has turned the finances of the ASWMC around as he inherited a shambles (and very little cash in the bank) and my very grateful thanks for a wonderful transformation performed, his proposed successor is Colin Goode. Jannine Loveys has done great work since taking over as Championship Registration Secretary and Newsletter Editor (and a great deal else which goes unseen); Darren Loveys has the Sprint, Hillclimb and Autocross Championships in his portfolio, and now that he has seen what he has got, quite a number of amendments are proposed to his Championship rules for 2010.

Alan Whitney is a highly enthusiastic, knowledgeable and active Rallies Championship Secretary and the ASWMC are very lucky to have him. Nic Ayre is our Yearbook Editor and webmaster and looks after the Autotest Championship which has benefitted from some changes he has made to the class structure, which have also reflected in other championships elsewhere. Tony Bonfield will now be working with Nic to seek advertising for our Year Book. Sadly Peter Gibbons, will be standing down as Trials Secretary from the AGM and I am urgently seeking a replacement; as I have mentioned before Pam Hartill has taken on the role of Cornwall Liaison and some positive signs have emerged since her appointment. Roger Harvey will also vacate his role this year as Peninsula FLO, but is seeking re-election to the Executive together with Roy Sims. Elsewhere I have been able to use my position on both MSA Sprint & Hillclimb sub committee & Speed Events Committee to ensure the changes which will take place in the Sprint & Hillclimb world are the "right" ones for ASWMC members. Also I have, as part of my MSA Regional Committee role, been part of a working group, following the submission of a paper I wrote on the subject last winter, which has reviewed the whole grading structure of motorsport in an effort to simplify and rationalise it. It will be some time yet before anything positive emerges from that. REPORT FROM THE GENERAL SECRETARY PRIOR TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE ASWMC TO BE HELD ON SUNDAY 25 TH OCTOBER 2009 I regret to inform you that the following Officers of the Executive Committee will be standing down at the AGM. I am sure that your Club will join the Executive membership in thanking them for their assistance over a number of years. BARRY LUXTON Treasurer RODGER HARVEY Forestry Liaison Officer PETER GIBBONS Championship Co-ordinator Trials The following have been nominated for election at the AGM in addition to the existing Officers and Executive Committee Members, all of whom are seeking re-election. COLIN GOODE Treasurer (nominated by Torbay MC) ROGER NUNN Training Co-ordinator (nominated by Silverton MC) CHRIS HOUSE Forestry Liaison Officer (nominated by Burnham on Sea MC) At the 2008 AGM, Mrs Pam Hartill was elected as Cornwall Liaison Officer, but the 2009 ASWMC Yearbook did not include this position as an Officer of the ASWMC. Provided there are no objections at this AGM, the Rules will be amended to reflect this. Pam Hartill has also agreed to become the Trophies Officer, which will also be reflected in the Rules of 2010, if approved at the AGM. Tony Bonfield has taken over the position as Communications Officer to concentrate on obtaining sufficient advertisers for the Year Book. Roy Sims and Rodger Harvey will be standing as the two Executive Committee Members, without portfolio, as allowed in the Association Rules. As you will notice from the AGM Agenda, the most important subject for discussion will be the considerable ASWMC Rule changes, these were distributed to all clubs earlier in the year, for comment. No adverse comments were received. Since then, further changes have been made, which are highlighted with a yellow background, and refer to a new points scoring system of Speed Events on Page 2, and a new Junior Class for Autocross contenders. The new scoring system has been distributed to all Championship Contenders, some of whom have participated in deciding the changes necessary. Thanks should go to Paul Parker and Darren Loveys for their stirring efforts to bring the Rules into line from 2010 onwards. We are still seeking a new Championship Co-ordinator for Trials, and any proposals or volunteers will be most welcome. Please note that Mr Robert Jones the Company Secretary of the MSA will be attending the AGM and Council Meeting, and will be given the opportunity to update us on the latest developments in the MSA, and to answer your questions. Hopefully your Club has already submitted it s 2010 Dates to Nic Ayre on the form sent to all Clubs. Please come to the Dates Meeting ready to discuss and resolve any probable clashes of dates.
