Friends of the NRA Capital Area Friends of NRA is having its Annual Fund Raising Banquet this year, September 23rd at the Demmer Center, 4830 East Jolly Road, ¼ mile east of the Jolly and College Road intersection. All COSC Members will be receiving information on the banquet either by e-mail or snail mail around the end of April or early May. Please read and consider coming to the banquet. For those who do not know, the Friends of NRA (FNRA) is the charitable 501(c)3 foundation arm of the NRA and is totally non-political, raising money which is then distributed back to various gun clubs, the 4H, the Boy Scouts and other organizations to support the shooting sports, with the main focus on youths and women in the form of grants. The shooting sports include firearms, air rifle and archery. Some of the grants also go towards range improvements, both gun clubs and local police. Since 1998, COSC has received in excess of $87,000 which was used mostly to support our youth small bore (.22 rimfire) and centerfire programs and the Ladies, Ladies, Ladies programs. Unfortunately, due to the untimely death of our Treasurer, Rosemary DiPinio in 2016, the Treasurer s report for COSC wasn t available in time for our yearly Grant submission for FNRA funds, so no grant will be forthcoming this year. To help make up for the grant loss, please consider purchasing tickets for COSC s gun raffle to keep our shooting programs funded for the kids and ladies. Thank You, John Mann COSC & Capital Area FNRA Committee Member Reloading Group Reloading Group: Donations of equipment use & cash means no cost for member use. An organization in Peru, Indiana has as its mission the historical preservation of the UH-1 helicopter, also known as the Huey, and its role in the Vietnam conflict. This effort is by way of extensive restoration to flight status Huey helicopters that actually saw service in country. Currently this group, web site AmericanHuey369.com, has three FAA certified airworthy Huey aircraft; one H model Dustoff (Air Ambulance), one H model Slick (Troop Delivery) and one D model Gunship (no explanation needed). Our web site details the various events that the organization participates in and/or sponsors as well as a drive to construct a permanent historical museum in the Peru area; you will also find many photos and videos from prior events and activities. As all aircraft are necessarily certified as experimental, having been former military, membership in American Huey 369 is required to actually qualify for the rare opportunity to take a flight on one of these historic aircraft; events scheduled this year are posted on the web site. Questions regarding this organization can be addressed to me and if a request is made I would be willing to schedule a presentation at a COSC regular meeting or other gathering that might be arranged. I am authorized to take membership applications and Museum Founder donations.

Thank you, John Akley, COSC member and frequent Geezer breakfast participant American Huey 369, Life and Core member, Museum Founder Youth Archery Youth archery begins Tuesday July 11 at 6:00 PM. and Tuesday July 25, at 6:00 PM.
