MOVE-A-THON The Mt Erie PTA Spring fundraiser is fast approaching! This year we are hosting a Move-a-Thon with two ways to participate. Your children can pledge to get out and MOVE for at least 30 minutes while conducting an exercise activity of their choice at home or they can join us on Saturday, April 18th at Mt Erie Elementary! Next week, your child will bring home an envelope with amplifying information about the event, pledge form, and an activity log. We have tried to make participation as easy as possible to help keep this event fun and exciting for all. Your child will ask family, friends, neighbors, and whomever else you are comfortable with them asking for a pledge. The pledges are flat rate and to be collected at the time pledges are made. There is no need for your child to track activity and calculate a pledge just to go back and collect monies at a later date. We do ask that you and your child discuss their activity and document what your child did on the activity log enclosed in your envelope. Your child will earn raffle tickets based upon how much money they raise. Additionally, your child will receive prizes for meeting donation benchmarks. Our community has been extremely generous and donated some really awesome prizes! Thank you to all who have donated prizes and supported this event. Every child that earns a raffle ticket will have that many opportunities to win prizes. We will draw raffle prizes April 29th and announce them via the morning Mustang News. Envelopes and donations need to be returned to the classroom by Wednesday April 15th. Each classroom will have a clearly marked drop box for collection. Mostly we hope that all kids will be able to participate and have fun! For out of town family and friends have them visit the PTA website for more information. mteriepta.org. We hope to see you all on Saturday, April 18th!!!! Shannon Conley Spring Fundraiser Chair

Garden News Students have returned with the same enthusiasm and energy from last year. First graders have planted our early crop of peas and radishes. Kindergartners will be out this week to plant a bed of potatoes. Mrs. Dylan has brought all her science classes out to help prep beds, spread their compost and beautify the pathways with fresh bark. Fourth-graders visit every Friday afternoon during 'relish' to complete whatever task they are offered. When the gate is open Wed &Friday during the lunch recess hour, every student has the opportunity to join in the fun of digging in the dirt. Many kids return to class still chewing on kale leaves or reeking of chives. We are very fortunate to have a garden at our school.
