THE 188 The Monthly Newsletter of Portland, Maine Elks Lodge #188 The Mother Lodge of Maine Established April 2, 1891 APRIL 2019 Newsletter A MESSAGE FROM EXALTED RULER, MARTHA BINETTE Hello Fellow Elk s: First may I say Thank You to everyone who was supportive in encouraging me to become your next Exalted Ruler, I feel very honored and loved I will work my hardest to make you proud. I also have to thank all of our officers, old and new for the work they do and will continue to do for you and your Elk s Club. The Installation of Officers will be held on Sunday, April 14th at 1:00 pm, You are all invited. Come on in to see the installation ceremony and to meet your new Officers. As you know, I am not shy about asking for volunteers. I hope you re ready! If there is any event or project you feel you would like to help with please let me or one of the Officers know, even if you are able to help for a short period of time. You are all needed. We have the Connie Francis Tribute on Sunday April 28th at 2:00 pm in the afternoon. It is a wonderful show that I am positive everyone will enjoy. Ticket s are $20.00 per person, and are available at the 188 Lodge. If you haven t purchased your tickets yet, come by the Lodge and pick them up! On Saturday May 25th, Our Lodge will be hosting a continental breakfast for the Summit Project. The Summit Project was founded on Memorial Day Weekend in 2013. The stones engraved with the names of fallen soldiers are carried on a tribute trek across Maine and all over the world.. We can use as many volunteer s as we can get. You will need to be at the Lodge by 7:00 am to help set up. The ceremony itself is very uplifting. One last thing. This is your Lodge, please get involved, come to the meetings, they are usually short, informative, and fun. Please feel free anytime to contact me with any concerns or questions you may have. News From Lodge Secretary SECRETARY: We still have 38 delinquent members who have not paid their dues for 2018/2019. I have sent out a mailing as a reminder. As we are now into the fourth quarter it means that these remaining Elks will be dropped from the rolls on April 1st. They will no longer be members, and as Dropped Members, they are no longer allowed into BPOE facilities, even as guests (excluding private functions). If you are aware of delinquent members, please let them know their membership is in immediate peril! Our new cards for 2019/2020 are on the way. There is one change in the Membership Dues for this coming year, the State Association has gone up $1.00 in their fees. The regular dues for this coming year will increase to $77.00. Life membership will remain the same of $38.50.
