3 Secretary s Message... We will be balloting on the following members at the regular meeting on Wednesday, April 17, 2019: Name Name Name Name Tiffany Alden Timothy Halloran Shane A McDermott Thomas Tapogna Darrel Baker Gary A Haulman Derek Rohrer Karen S Cooley Lisa J Haulman Josh Salyers Reinstatement Brit Cox Tyler L Jones Alexander P Shew Millina Houston Michael T Curtis Cheryl L Marburger Brian D Swinford Shawn L Miller Charles A Ferguson Mark Mayhan Christine Swinford Michael Verbillion NOTE: Your orange card will cease to work in the door after March 31, The membership cards will be blue and will be activated on Monday, April 1, If you do not plan on renewing your dues for , please let the office know as soon as possible so that we can remove you from our system. Golf Shop.... New and Improved? Well, it is definitely new and since I voted on it and it should simplify things for golf and it should also eliminate some confusion and it will make printing easier and it is already ordered and in use today and, and it is a done deal. So there you have it. Any questions? To simplify, we have a new scorecard with a new look and especially new handicap allocations. The USGA along with the MVGA in our area, does all the ratings for Miami Valley golf courses except hole by hole handicap allocations. That is the ranking of a course from the easiest to hardest holes for the distribution of handicap strokes in competition and it is left up to each course to do this. Here the Handicap Committee used three different ways to evaluate this task; 1. Men and Women combined separately 2. Men and Women combined together 3. Each tee done separately All three require a minimum number of scorecards to calculate an average score for each hole. Relative to par, each hole is then ranked, 1 through 18 where #1 is the hardest hole on the course. The handicap committee first discussed these allocation issues in the late fall of Jayson Skaggs, the handicap chairperson, collected around 4,000 scorecards from 2018, and in what must have been a daunting task, did the calculations for all three of these scenarios. After the discussions of two meetings and talking with Steve Juric of the MVGA, the handicap committee has decide to go with door #1, combining all men s tees and all women s tees separately, meaning, all men s tees together will have one set of handicap allocations and all women s tees will have one set of handicap allocations. We understand that each golfer plays this course differently and what some think a hard hole may be easier for someone else, but these handicap allocations can not be set for the individual player. In this regard, as a whole, we hope to simplify the scorecard and limit some of the confusion as to who strokes where and it will make the printing of scorecards a lot easier. So it is new, and we believe improved. Fairways & Greens.... Bob Horner
