We'll be looking for volunteers to help run that shoot... so please watch for Anton s special bulletin with all of the positions available. We would like to decorate the range in a Halloween Theme for the Boo Shoot, so if you re crafty and would like to help please mark down the 29th on your calendar to help. Please let me know so we can make plans to purchase decorations. Thank you for your help. Pat Miller Diablo Bowmen President 1
Outreach Program School is in session again for the month of September! As many kids and students head off to classes (myself included), some archers still found some time to come out to the range to shoot. On September 16 th, Diablo hosted a beginner class for four new archers. The class was headed by our own Bruce Jordan and went over safety, equipment, form and range etiquette. It was well received by the students who were placing quite a few arrows into our practice targets by the end of the night! Way to go, Archers! We have also scheduled an event with a Boy Scout troop from Brentwood for Friday, September 23 rd. This event came from our beginner class in August. We are very excited to support these scouts next week! If you are interested in supporting our classes, please feel free to email me. I would love to have experienced archers on hand to answer questions, share experiences and help these new archers begin their journey in the sport. I will be attending my Level 2 class on October 1 and 2 and will not be present at the board meeting. I plan on attending on November, but if you have any questions or suggestions; feel free to contact me by email at diablobowmenoutreach@gmail.com. On another note, I attended the Pacifica CBH/SAA State 900 on Saturday, September 17 th and was very proud to see our member, Gianna D Arezzo shoot a 894 to beat the cub state record in the event! Gianna s family joined Diablo Bowmen in June. She also placed in Las Vegas this past January and in the Nationals in Washington in July. It will be interesting following her archery adventures! We had many other archers in attendance for the event as well. Thank you to all who participated. For those in the Regional Championship, good luck on October 9 th for the Outdoor Tournament at Briones Archery. Melissa Pool Diablo Bowmen Outreach Manager diablobowmenoutreach@gmail.com 2
Shooters Corner Club Shoot Low turnout for September club shoot. Come out in October (8th) and enjoy your club. More SF 1 Million BC news Bruce Jordan took third place in the SS Long Bow class, great shooting Bruce! Congratulation. State 900 Shoot Diablo Shooter Sets New State Record. Gianna D'arezzo shot an incredible 894 out of 900 points with 56 X's in the cub/freestyle class at the state shoot on September 17th, at the SF Archers' range in Pacifica. Gianna broke Paige Pearce Gore's record of 890 with 46 X's set in 2006. Paige Pearce Gore is the top female compound shooter in the world right now, so Gianna really did something special. Congratulations Gianna! The weather at the 900 in SF was absolutely beautiful, as was the venue. I was happy to shoot 870, which was a personal best for me. I recommend attending this shoot next year, it is a lot of fun! NCFAA Regional 900 Tournament The regional tournament took place within the state shoot at SF. 38 shooters attended and had a great day. This was leg three of four for the regional series. The last tournament will be the field round on October 9th at Briones Archers. Gianna Shoots another X Adding up the scores Range Report We had a light turnout at the September work party. Some weed eating was done, new targets were put out, shooting lanes were trimmed. Also, our main gate was modified so that members can walk through to open the lock, big improvement. Thanks Cleon. We will have two work parties in October. The first one is on the 1st of the month and the 29th of the month, second one for the Boo shoot. Please come out and give the club some of your time.
