CNY Storm All Stars Rules and Regulations 2013-2014 Season As a cheerleader/dancer for the CNY Storm All Star teams, you are expected to follow this organization s rules and regulations. This is a professional organization and as a member you are expected to behave in a responsible and professional manner. If for any reason you feel you cannot abide by these rules, we ask that you forfeit your place on the team. If you fail to abide by these rules and regulations, we will have no choice but to take disciplinary action which may include immediate dismissal from the program at the sole discretion of the Program Director and Owner, Kathy Penree. CNY Cheer Company, Inc. (CNY Storm All Stars) maintains the right to refuse services at any time. Physical: A copy of a current school physical for family doctor physical is required. Returning cheerleaders/dancers may submit a current physical upon renewal of the current one on file at the gym. Any changes in medical history or physical limitations during the season must be submitted in writing to the Program Director immediately. Injuries while at practice, competition, or performance must be reported to the team coach immediately. Injuries occurring outside of practice/competition/performances, must be reported to the team coach within 24 hours. It is required that all participants be covered by their own family insurance policies and that any costs associated with the treatment of injuries is the responsibility of the cheerleader s parents or guardian. Open team members must have their own insurance and are responsible for any costs associated with the treatment of injuries. Attendance and Practices: All practices are mandatory. In the summer we will work with vacations, but know that an extended absence may affect the athlete s responsibility in the team s routine. During the school year (September- May), cheerleaders/dancers will be allowed up to 4 absences (3 for local, hip hop, and half year teams). The 4/3 allowed missed practices include, but are not limited to: vacation, school function, work, etc. Please see rule below re: missed practices before a competition. You must notify the coach in advance so an alternate can replace you at the practice(s). If the cheerleader/dancer misses more than 4/3 practices they will be replaced on the team and moved to an alternate position, while still responsible for the fees due. Absence situations will be handled on an individual basis by the Program Director. If a cheerleader/dancer misses the last two practices before a performance or competition, they may be pulled from that competition and replaced by an alternate. The last two practices may include a Sunday of a holiday weekend or school break. The cheerleader/dancer may also be benched from the following competition(s) for missing a competition. If a cheerleader/dancer is sick and cannot participate in the last two practices, it will be the coaches and program director s decision whether or not to allow that child to participate in the competition. The (sick) child must attend those practices and sit out in practice clothes in order to be considered for participation in that competition. Cheerleaders/dancers who are injured or sick (unless contagious/vomiting) are required to attend practices, they may sit out and observe, but do need to be in attendance and dressed in the proper practice attire.

Cheerleaders/dancers who must sit out of practice due to an injury/serious illness, must provide a doctor s note. A doctor s note, from the same doctor, releasing the cheerleader/dancer must also be received before returning to normal activities. Cheerleaders/parents must notify their coaches before practice of illness, injury, etc. No athlete should just show up at practice with a doctor s note or tell the coaches then that they are out for sickness/injury. Cheerleaders/dancers are not allowed to come late to practice or leave early for another team s practice/game/competition/event. Local cheer teams and some Hip Hop teams will add a practice night the week of a competition. If you are going to be late or absent from a practice, you must contact your coach at least 2 hours prior to the start of practice. DO NOT CALL THE GYM AND LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THE MACHINE, YOU MUST CONTACT ONE OF YOUR COACHES DIRECTLY. Excessive tardiness may result in the cheerleader/dancer being replaced by an alternate or removed from the team. Cheerleaders/dancers cannot leave practice early unless your coach is told prior to the beginning of practice and approves it. Participants must be dressed in the proper practice clothes and ready to stretch at the designated practice time. All practices begin on time, participants need to arrive before their designated practice time. If you need to get taped, go to the bathroom, change, etc., take care of this BEFORE the beginning of practice. Cheerleaders/dancers who have to sit out a practice due to injury, illness, discipline, etc., must be dressed in the proper practice clothes, not school/street clothes. NO jewelry at any times, including all body piercings. No gum at practices. Participants must place their bags, jackets, shoes, etc. in the cubbies in the lobby area. Please note that the storage area is not secure and CNY Cheer Company is not responsible for lost or stolen articles, please leave valuables at home. Cheerleaders are not to wear street shoes in the practice area, or wear their practice sneakers from outside onto any of the practice areas. Participants are not to use the trampoline, tumble track, or tumble strip until a coach has approved it. Cheerleaders/dancers are not to jump, stunt, or tumble without a coach present and working with them. Siblings/Visitors are not allowed to hang out in the gym on the mats, tumble track, etc. Open practices for parents are considered a privilege. The coaches reserve the right to close any and all practices throughout the season.

Parents and other spectators must stay in the designated seating area. They are not allowed in any practice areas. There is to be no interaction between parent and cheerleader/dancer during practices. Practice time is not the appropriate time to discuss issues/concerns with the CNY staff. Staff is available before or after team practice times. Do not interrupt a coach during their practice times. All team and routine decisions are left to the discretion of the Program Director and coaches. Uniforms/Supplies: Parents are not to contact our supply companies or their representatives. All pieces of uniform, warm-ups, and practice wear should be cleaned and pressed at all times. Cheerleaders/dancers are not to wear their CNY uniform at other events without permission from the Program Director. Sneakers/dance shoes are for practices, competitions, and performances only. Carry your sneakers to all practices, competitions, and performances, do not wear them outside. If the participant s sneakers are determined not to be presentable for competition, the participant will have to order a new pair, at their expense. Competition and performance makeup and hairstyle will be determined by the coaches. All supplies including, but not limited to: uniforms, practice wear, sneakers, bows, briefs, sweatshirts, bags must be purchased through CNY Cheer Company, Inc. There is to be no reproduction of the CNY Storm name or logo on items. There are no returns or exchanges on custom made items: uniform, warmup, rhinestone items, personalized sweatshirts, bags, etc. or opened/used briefs or sneakers, as well as worn items. Transportation: Cheerleaders are responsible for their own transportation to and from practices, performances, competitions, etc., unless other team arrangements have been made. Fees: All monies due for uniforms, supplies, team fees, camps, competitions, etc. are payable to CNY Cheer Co., Inc., or CNY Storm unless otherwise noted. CNY Cheer Co., Inc. accepts Master Card, VISA, and Discover for the tuition portion of the monthly fee. If you would like to charge any other fees, a 4% service charge will be added. The adult responsible for payment must provide a credit card or automatic checking withdrawal information for tuition payments. This payment will be automatically charged the first of every month June 2013-April 2014. If you choose to pay tuition by check or cash and payment is not received by the 8 th of the month the credit card/ach on file will be charged for the tuition, along with the $10 late fee. The financial commitment form must be turned in to the gym front desk prior to June 1 st or the 1 st of the month when your child joins.

Checks should include the child s name in the memo section if the name on the check is different from the child s or if there is another family in the gym with the same name. If writing a check for a store purchase, private, or other item separate from accounts please indicate that in the check memo area. Returned checks, declined credit cards, and ACH payments will be charged a $40 fee. Post dated checks are not accepted. If making a cash payment, it must be sealed in an envelope dated and clearly marked who and what the payment is for. Receipts are available at the front desk. Any cash payments not posted to your child s account without a receipt will not be honored. All payments to CNY Cheer Co., Inc. may go in the CNY mail box at the front desk or be mailed to PO Box 655, Herkimer, NY 13350. Do not mail payments to the gym address. The monthly team tuition is due by the first of each month. There will be a $10 late fee for fees received after each date. Checks dated the 1 st of the month, but received after the 1 st will be charged the late fee. Checks postmarked by the 1 st will not be charged a late fee. Fees must be paid up to date to remain an active member of the team. Accounts will be reviewed monthly and cheerleaders/dancers may be required to sit out of practices for nonpayment of fees. CNY Cheer Company, Inc. cannot wait for Booster Club transfers to keep payments current. Payments for fees must be on time. There is no prorating of fees. Fees and deposits paid are non refundable. If you are dismissed from the team, or you quit, any deposits, fees paid, ordered supplies such as uniform, warmup, sneakers, etc., are forfeited. Competitions/Performances: The purpose of our competitive all star teams is to perform at the highest level possible. This cannot be done without full participation. The success of this program depends on everyone attending each practice and event. To have to replace a teammate for a competition due to absence is unfair to the members of the team, therefore, if you cannot attend a performance or competition for any reason, you must be removed from the program. If you cannot work your schedule around the competitions, then we cannot allow you to participate with the program. Cheerleaders/dancers are under the direction of the coaches until dismissed to their parents. Traveling to a competition and performance with the CNY Storm All Stars is a privilege and it is expected it will be treated as such. The purpose of the trips is cheer/dance competition and it is expected that the All Star teams receive first priority. Cheerleaders/dancers will not be allowed to leave with parents for dinners, visits, entertainment, etc. during competition weekends, unless free time has been built into the competition weekend schedule by the Program Director.

Families wanting to extend the competition weekend into a family vacation should schedule it after the event to make sure the cheerleader/dancer is at the last two practices before the competition. There are times when a cheerleader/dancer may have to compete sick or with a minor injury. All cheerleaders/dancers are required to be present to cheer on other CNY teams and sit with the CNY teams as determined by the Program Director at each event. Cheerleaders/dancers are to wear the proper attire at competitions as deemed by the staff, this includes but is not limited to; limited jewelry, hair up, no pajama pants, etc. Cheerleaders/dancers must stay at the competition/performance until their team has received their award. While at a competition or performance, all cheerleaders/dancers will be required to wear certain clothing while in attendance or traveling. Parents, or other spectators with CNY, are not allowed to contact the competition company or speak to a competition official. These actions can jeopardize our scoring and/or relationship with that company. Parents, or other spectators with CNY, must display good sportsmanship and follow the spectator rules/guidelines at events. Parents, or other spectators with CNY, are not to contact hotels, airlines, buses, etc. involving arrangements made for the teams, parents, or coaches. Parents, or other spectators with CNY are not allowed in or around warm up areas at competitions. This includes taking pictures, etc. Parents who are attending the competitions should be supervising their own child. Some of our competitions may require team members to miss a day of school. It is the cheerleader/dancer s responsibility to maintain their academic schedule and standards. Appearance: Cheerleaders/dancers are expected to look neat and in proper attire at all practices, performances, and competitions. If your child is a flyer or is taking a stretching, flexibility, or stunt class they should always wear briefs or tight fitting shorts under their regular shorts. Tattoos should not be visible when competing/performing. Facial piercings are discouraged and must be removed at competitions/performances. Jewelry is not allowed to be worn when competing. Cheerleaders/dancers should practice good grooming and personal habits in and out of uniform. Gym Conduct:

No food or drink in the practice areas. Cheerleaders/dancers are expected to help keep the gym and break area/room clean and should dispose of their garbage properly. Cheerleaders/dancers, family members, and spectators must follow additional rules posted in the gym. Cheerleaders/dancers need to sign in at the front desk (and pay if applicable) for classes, open gyms, private instruction sessions, and clinics. Parents and cheerleaders are not to help themselves to paperwork behind the front desk, in the coaches room, Kathy s office, or on the front desk computer. Videotaping is not allowed. CNY Cheer Co., Inc. is not responsible for lost or stolen articles at the gym or when traveling to competitions and events. Private instruction sessions are scheduled directly with the cheer coach or tumbling instructor with payment made directly to CNY Cheer Company, Inc./CNY Storm. Payments must be separate from all other fees. We do not accept credit card/ach payments for private instruction. These remain separate from your child s account. Accounts must be current in order to take private lessons. General Info: Cheerleaders/dancers are not to train at another all star facility without prior approval from Kathy Penree. (unless a CNY Storm clinic/event has been arranged) All stars must continually work to improve their skills, especially tumbling. It may be necessary to dismiss a cheerleader/dancer or move them to another team if their skills decline or are below average. By becoming a member of the CNY Storm All Stars you have made a commitment to a team, it is your responsibility to resolve any conflicts with your schedule. As a member of our all star program you will be learning new and unique dances, cheers, stunts, choreography, etc. All material learned at our practices, camps, clinics, private instruction, etc. are the property of CNY Cheer Co., Inc. This material is not to be shared with other teams or individuals from other teams. Routine music is not to be posted on internet sites; Youtube, Facebook, Fierce Board, etc. Routines are not allowed to be posted on any type of internet site until after each team s first competition. In addition to practices and competitions, cheerleaders/dancers will be encouraged to participate in community service projects. Cheerleaders/dancers or parents who display improper or unsportsmanlike behavior, disrespect for team members, competitors, competition officials, schools, coaches, or CNY staff may be dismissed immediately. Inappropriate conduct is grounds for dismissal from the team. Team members cannot participate in or be in the presence of others in the use or possession of tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs.

Cheerleaders/dancers cannot possess a weapon of any type. The Program Director reserves the right to search the property or person of a team member suspected of an infraction of any rules. Cheerleaders/dancers and parents are not to engage in negative discussions or postings on web site message boards, cheerleading forums, or other social media sites. It is expected that you will promote good sportsmanship towards all teams at all times. Cheerleaders/dancers/parents cannot use CNY Storm generated emails to forward personal information (parties, advertising, etc.) Cheerleaders/dancers must refrain from displays of public affection while representing CNY at events/performances/competitions. Cheerleaders/dancers who quit the team after routine choreography may not be welcome back to the program. Cheerleaders/dancers or parents will not send out any press releases that use or refer to CNY Storm All Stars. All press releases will be sent out from CNY Cheer Co., Inc. Parents are not to distribute written information to Storm members without prior approval from Kathy Penree, including, but not limited to: calendars, newsletters, team rosters, special events. The CNY Cheer Co., Inc or CNY Storm name, logo, or likeness cannot be used without permission from Kathy Penree. Weather cancellation policy: gym closing due to weather will be determined by 4pm on weekdays and at least 2 hours prior to Sunday practice times. Closings will be posted on the team website: www.cnystorm.com Because we have people that travel in from all different areas, it is their personal choice as to whether or not conditions are safe to travel in to the gym. If you have any questions or concerns that need immediate attention (besides a financial question) please use the following chain of command: 1. Front desk staff. 2. Team coach 3. Gym Manager/Parent liaison 4.
