Box 793, Fremont, CA 94537 FebraryMarch 2013 FREMONT RELAYS MAY 19, 2013 Now that the winter rains have subsided it is time to get back into sailing and what better way to do it but to participate in the 10 th Annual Fremont Relays to be held on Sunday May 19 th on beautiful Lake Elizabeth. This is the only El Tor relay race that is offered in the Bay Area and should not be missed by any person who sails an El Toro, Lido, FJ, any type of dinghy or a larger keel boat. Not owning an El Toro is no excuse not to sail in this very exciting regatta. If you do not have an El Toro available to you, contact Vern Tucker at vltbike@yahoo.com or at 408 730-21548 and our local fleet will find a boat for you. (The boat may be a City of Fremont El Toro). Please fill out and mail your application today. See elsewhere in this Windjammer for the 2013 Fremont Relays application. FSC Luncheon The FSC Annual Ladies' Luncheon will be held at the Olive Garden in Fremont on Thursday, April 11 at 11:30. The invitation is for current and former member. Commodore s Log Thanks Roy and Christophe and Verne for doing a bunch of fix-up stuff in February. Belated thanks to Phil for fixing up and cataloging the Toppers last fall. We gave the city a Dr. Crash calendar with our event dates on it. We will be out Saturday the 23 rd to clean and paint the scow (the first coat on the new seats soaked into the grain) finish and whatever else people want to fix up. Some Banshees are talking about sailing Fremont this year. A couple el Toro Juniors at Midwinters asked if I was going to be race committee when their race series comes to Fremont, so apparently we made some kind of memorable impression. First race day is Sunday the 21 st of April, with race committee from los Toros or whomever Helga calls up, and an FJ- BBQ. See you soon, Keith Page 1

LIDO REPORT Winter tends to be pretty quiet for the Fremont Sailing Club, and this year was no exception. Except Sunday, February 3rd was a BIG day for the San Francisco Bay Area. Sure, there was some big football game going on in the evening, but the thing we were most excited for was the annual Crew Appreciation Brunch at El Toritos in Milpitas. Thanks again to Jack Navarra for keeping this fine tradition going. By recollection, Jack believes this was the 25th year! And we showed plenty of appreciation for our crew (who put up with our fumbling 'round the race course) and our significant others (who have supported our every sailing indulgences) with madeto-order omelets, all-you-can-handle fiesta food, and a table full of yummy desserts! In attendance this year: Jack and Carolyn Navarra, Doug Hamilton and new "crew", Marlene, Jim and Louise Park, Gary and Linda Gordon, Hans and Helga Wolff, Chuck and Karen St. Denis, John and Laurie Rogers, Claude and Kathleen Turner, Kathy Federico, Walt and Judy Vance, Joe Davis and crew, Janet, Jim Lechner, and, of course Harold and Maria Ho. What a great opportunity to catch up with both the racing and social aspects of the fleet! We hope this tradition carries on for many years to come. Meanwhile, racing starts up again at Lake Elizabeth on April 21st. We'll gather once again before that date to prepare with a fleet meeting. Thanks to Joe Davis for volunteering to host this one. FREMONT Fremont Relays Application ANNOUNCING THE 10 TH ANNUAL Fremont Relays For El Toro s Sunday May 19, 2013 Lake Elizabeth in Fremont, at Paseo Padre and Stevenson Blvds. 10:00 AM Registration 11:00 AM Skippers Meeting 12:00 Noon Start Racers will consist of two person teams to sail one El Toro boat. Each skipper will alternate sailing two legs of a pre determined course. Boats will be tied to the dock and there will be a Le Mans start. Entrants will not be limited by age or gender and any combination thereof will be permitted. The entry fee is $25.00 plus a city required launch fee of $7.00. The entry fee includes a BBQ with salad, hamburgers and drinks. Trophies for the first three teams. T-Shirts for the first twelve teams.
