Adam Scott chooses not to compete Scott pulls out of Rio Olympic Games Gold Coast s world No.7 golfer Adam Scott withdraws from Rio Olympic Games selection. The Gold Coast s world No. 7 golfer Adam Scott has officially confirmed that he will not represent Australia at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in August. In a media release from manager Justin Cohen, 2014 US Masters winner Scott said tournament and private commitments have led to his decision. My decision has been taken as a result of an extremely busy playing schedule around the time of the Olympics and other commitments, both personal and professional, Scott said. I have informed the Australian team captain and relevant authorities, who are understanding of my position. I wish the Australian Olympic team the very best of luck in Rio. It was during his return to the Gold Coast for the 2014 Australian PGA Championships, that Scott indicated playing gold at the Olympics was not high on his wish list.

Pro golf PLAYING FROM THE HEAVY ROUGH When you find your ball in the heavy rough you have to make two critical decisions. What score do you need to make? How will the grass affect my swing? If you re playing match play and your opponent is next to the pin with a sure par, the shot you would choose is different to the one you would choose for a stroke round. Obviously the shot you choose depends on the circumstances and how much the ball is buried in the grass. There are some lies where your ball is buried in the grass where all you can do is hack it out with your sand wedge just to get the ball back on the fairway. The bottom line is you should know what kind of grass you re playing from and adjust your shot plan accordingly. One thing for sure is that heavy grass, no matter what type, will wrap around the hosel of your golf club shutting the club face and produce a low pulled shot to the left of your target. The harder you swing the more this effect is magnified so the distance that your shot has to carry affects how much to the right you should aim to adjust for the pull. The key to playing these shots from heavy grass is to make a steeper swing more than usual and attempt to hit the ball first. To do this play the ball in the middle of your stance or even a little back of centre. Take at least one or maybe two clubs more, open your stance and grip the club firmly. TRIVIA ANSWERS 1.
