RED HOT DREAM - bumped at the start. SILVER HEELS - slow to begin. Rider reported that the filly could not muster sufficient early speed and would be better suited to races over longer distance. BOLD NAVIGATOR - raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. DAZZLING GIRL - slow to begin. Race 2: IMPACT OFFICE SUPPLIES MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000M As apprentice J. Orman was unable to arrive on course in time owing to transport difficulties, apprentice T. Brooker was substituted as the rider of FRISCOS SHADOW. The start of this race was delayed when NO LUST LOST underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers. A. Best was fined $250 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight on 3rd placegetter MORE LIES. DEEKS - slow into stride.

FRISCOS SHADOW - rider reported that the gelding laid in under pressure in the home straight. THE DARK PASSENGER - hung out near the 600m and made contact with another runner. CALL ME BILLY - raced wide without cover. Contacted near the 600m. BASILISK - slow to begin. LIKENESS - hung out from the 700m. Continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight, causing rider to be unable to fully test the horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer S. Barling was advised that he would be required to produce a veterinary clearance for LIKENESS prior to its next start. Mr Barling indicated that the horse would more than likely be retired from racing. NO LUST LOST - dislodged rider on way to barriers, cantered a short distance before being recaptured, examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and passed suitable to race. Raced greenly throughout, laid out under pressure in the home straight and became very awkward when racing to the inside of another runner which shifted in. CRACK OF DAWN - slow to begin. MORE LIES - raced greenly in the early stages. Race 3: BUSH TO BEACH CLEANING SERVICES CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1400M DYNA ROSE - after passing the 1000m raced with its head in the air whilst overracing and after passing the 700m improved three wide without cover. BALINESE BOY - had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight until approaching the 200m. Race 4: SHADFORTHS CIVIL CONTRACTORS MAIDEN PLATE - 1400M EYEFORIT was a late scratching at 9.50 am for veterinary reasons. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was advised that she would be required to produce a veterinary clearance for EYEFORIT prior to its next start. SHOWAMIA, which was fractious in the barriers, was removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon who declared the horse unfit to race. As a result, SHOWAMIA was declared a late scratching at 2.29 pm. Trainer J. Green was advised that she would be required to produce a veterinary clearance for SHOWAMIA prior to its next start. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SHOWAMIA be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers: 0 cent in the dollar for the Win #15 2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #15 4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #12 2 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #7 DUKE COMMAND - raced wide throughout. INVICTUS MANEO - slow to begin. OLLIE OOBA - held up rounding the home turn, steadied when racing in restricted room to the

inside of SAFECRACKER passing the 350m, was obliged to alter course approaching the 200m, and inside the final 100m was again disappointed for clear running between SAFECRACKER and EL JADIDA, both of which shifted ground. SAFECRACKER - jumped away awkwardly. TAZI ARAZI - disappointing performance. Rider Kelvin Wharton advised that the gelding overraced in the lead and in his view this affected the performance. He recommended to connections to remove the blinkers. PODIUM PRINCESS - raced wide throughout. Race 5: BOSS CONSTRUCTIONS QLD CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1800M HEREAFTER - rider Glen Colless reported that it had not been his intention to lead, however the horse overraced with the addition of blinkers today. LUCKY DAY KID - rider Janette Johnson was asked to explain her tactics, particularly in positioning the horse in the second half of the field, which is in contrast to its racing pattern, and also her riding from the 600m onwards. She explained that she had anticipated being in a forward position, however despite her riding in the early stages the horse could not muster sufficient early speed and she was obliged to take up a position in the second half of the field. She explained that after passing the 600m she attempted to improve to the inside of SWITCH ON which in her opinion would have taken her into the race, however when that horse did not quicken she was obliged to steady and shift out across that horse's heels to secure clear running. She said she was mindful of instructions which were to secure clear running away from the fence if possible. Trainer B. Guy confirmed these instructions and added that in hindsight apprentice Johnson may have been better served in improving on the fence. He accepted that due to his instructions Ms Johnson's actions could be explained. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered. STATING - raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to take up a forward position passing the 1200m. ARDROVA - slow to begin. GOLD DEAL - slow to begin. Inconvenienced passing the 1500m when JACOBUS shifted wider. STAINER - raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to take up a forward position passing the 1200m. Race 6: SMS FINANCE CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1600M R. Wiggins, the rider of ABLE BOY, was fined $100 for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m. BIRDIE BLITZ - raced wide in the early stages. ABLE BOY - bumped near the 800. Rider Ryan Wiggins reported that he had intended riding the horse in a forward position, however it could not muster early speed despite his urgings and he was obliged to take up a trailing position and raced three wide. Laid in under pressure in the home

straight. BOLD FLIGHT - overraced during the early and middle stages and near the 800m shifted wider on the track, making contact with ABLE BOY. MAGIC TWIST - rider lost the use of his offside stirrup on jumping away and regained it shortly afterwards. Raced wide throughout. BOLD EMBRACE - slow to begin. Overraced during the early stages. MADHURIMA - held up rounding the home turn, had to be steadied when improving into a tight run inside of TOUCH A STAR near the 300m. Following his ride in this race, E. Wilkinson was stood down by the Club doctor. Race 7: MAROOCHY MOWERS CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1300M POMPIDOU - slow to begin. Disappointed for a run shortly after entering the home straight and had to be steadied when FELON shifted in to secure clear running. JAMAICAN WARRIOR - raced three wide without cover. THIRSTY FOR BLOOD - obliged to check from the heels of TALLAHATCHIE near the 500m. FELON - trainer B. Crowley was interviewed regarding the horse's improved performance. He indicated that following the horse's start at the Sunshine Coast on 14 June he had freshened the horse up and added a tongue control bit and a nasal strip to the horse's gear. Following this the horse had shown an improved performance at its most recent start and he had expected a forward showing in today's event. Stewards noted Mr Crowley's comments and took no further action. DENMARK HILL - hung out throughout the event. Trainer P. Evans was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's racing manners. VANCOUVER GOLD - shifted in despite the efforts of its rider near the 500m, resulting in TALLAHATCHIE having to be checked when tightened for room. In this incident the horse sustained a minor laceration to the off hind stifle. Trainer reported that the horse lost its off fore plate in running. TALLAHATCHIE - had to be checked when tightened for room near the 500m when VANCOUVER GOLD, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Race 8: JERRY AND THE TILEMAKERS CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1200M NARSONS DUKE - jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. MALIBU DANCER - blundered on jumping away and lost ground. MUSIC OF LIFE - overraced in the early stages. SPEEDY GRAPHITO - inconvenienced when tightened for room approaching the 200m between BALGOWNIE and SAN CLEMENTE, which shifted out. Jason Taylor, the rider of SAN CLEMENTE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Stewards questioned

rider Ric McMahon regarding his tactics when rounding the home turn he elected to remain to the inside of BALGOWNIE rather than shift wider around that horse, which would have afforded him clear running in the straight. He indicated that he felt racing to the inside of BALGOWNIE was the better option as he wished to avoid racing wider on the track as he believed with the rail position today this was an inferior racing surface. He added that prior to SAN CLEMENTE shifting out he had been afforded clear running to the inside of BALGOWNIE. Stewards noted jockey McMahon's explanation. SHOWPONY EXPRESS - inconvenienced at the start and lost ground. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees Fines Race 2. A.
