Larry Howard 3 eagles in 2 rounds at Lajitas Men's Golf Association (MGA) This month s column Is short and sweet. Will, at least short. It s a simple message to all of our MGA members: Let s do it! We just had our first special event of the year with the second annual Boy s Night Out. We had 25 golfers and about 35 participants. That sounds pretty good until you realize that we have over 100 members! So this is a call to get everyone participating in both our regular golf days and our special events. With the caveat that things are always subject to change, we have quite a line up for you for the remainder of the year: April 20 th : Mansion Social Hour after play (2-man scramble) May 11 th : The ever popular Spring Cookout after play (with guests!) June 8 th : The Big Break and Mansion Social Hour (you ll love this one) July 15: For The Cure Tourney with the RWGA August 3 rd : Hot Dogs & Beer after play Sept. 21 st : MGA Shootout and Mansion Social Hour after play October 19 th : The super popular Fall Cookout after play (with guests) October 28 th : The Great Pumpkin with RWGA (this was a sell-out last year) November 18 th : Golf, Dinner, & Night Golf with the RWGA (something new!) November 30 th : Annual Meeting to thank the board for all these special events!
Here s my challenge to all of you: Let s see if we can t get at least half our members out for these events. That would be about sixty people per event. I know you can do it. Have fun, play well, and join us whenever you can. Women's Golf Association (RWGA) One of our favorite tournaments is the Presidents' Cup, which is coming up on Friday and Saturday, April 7 th and 8 th. The weekend dates are new this year and the eclectic format is always fun! There will be food and prizes and the entry fee is already paid through your annual dues. Sign up now in the Pro Shop. Another big event is the Texas Senior Women s Golf Association tournament beginning April 30 th through May 5 th. We have a full field of 144 players from all over Texas competing in match play here at Riverhill and we need your help! Ball spotters and hospitality helpers are needed beginning Monday through midday Friday. You ll have a front row view for some very good golf. To sign up, contact Carol Powers, 719-322-1305 (call or text) or email blonride@gmail.com. This is an equal volunteer opportunity for men, women and non-golfers!
