Wildcat Nation, Here s the Lawrence North athletics weekly update for the week of Monday, September 12, 2016 Lawrence North Athletics Community Partner of the Week Brent Sutton Agency, Inc. 6284 Rucker Rd Ste Z Indianapolis, IN 46220 317-257-3453 bsutton@amfam.com (For information on being the next Community Partner of the Week, email Athletic Director Mike Penrose at michaelpenrose@msdlt.k12.in.us) Lawrence North Student-Athletes of the Week Al McKeller, Football Maddie Dean, Volleyball Coming back from an early season ankle injury, senior running back Al McKeller had two touchdowns and accounted for 200 all-purpose yards in the Wildcat Homecoming win against North Central. McKeller, a Navy recruit, will led the Wildcats against the 10 th ranked Carmel Greyhounds on Friday night at home for the Bill Duke Pigskin Trophy. Senior Maddie Dean, an IUPUI commit, led the 7 th ranked Wildcat volleyball team with 23 kills in the win against #1 ranked Cathedral. For the week, Dean recorded a team high 56 kills in wins over Heritage Christian, Warren Central, and Cathedral. Her year to date total of 196 kills is second in the state for 4A school and third in the state for hitting efficiency with 36%. The Wildcats travel to #5 Carmel on Tuesday.

Cross-Country: The girls and boys XC teams ran at the Ben Davis Invitational, both placing 7 th / 26. With many seniors out due to ACT testing, the underclassmen had to step it up. The younger Wildcats ran well in very wet and muddy conditions. The team will travel to Yorktown on Saturday. Photos courtesy of Varsity Views.

Football: The Wildcats (2-2, 1-1 MIC) beat North Central on Friday night for the Homecoming game, 35-27. The Wildcats got balanced scoring, with touchdowns coming from Martel Williams, Aaron Williams, Elijah Smith, and Al McKeller, who accounted for 200 all-purpose yards and 2 TDs. Other standout performances were turned in by Dion Grundy, Chauncey Mays, and Larry Banks on defense, Robb Brown on the offensive line, and Sam Ellsworth from special teams. Great job by the MPLT and the junior class for winning the trike race, and a big shout out to the Wildcat cheerleaders and Coach Sahagun with all their help this week for homecoming. LN will host the 10 th ranked Carmel Greyhounds (2-2, 1-1 MIC) on Friday night. Photos courtesy of Varsity Views.

Girls Golf: The Wildcat golfers finished 6 th out of 14 teams at the Marion County Golf Championships at Old Oakland Golf Course. The team went 1-1 this week with a win over North Central and a loss to Perry Meridian. The team also competed in the Franklin Central Invitational at Smock Golf Course. Abby Wischmann led the team with an 87. The team is now 9-4 this season and will take on Cathedral, Chatard, Fishers, and Tech this week before competing in sectionals on Saturday at South Grove Golf Course.

Boys Soccer: The LN soccer team lost a tough match to Carmel 3-2, beat Brownsburg 2-1, and then lost to Columbus North 3-2 on Saturday. The team is now 2-4-3 for the year (0-1-3 MIC). Alan Kahlenbeck leads the conference in points (goals & assists), and both Kahlenbeck and Aidan Watkins are tied for second in the MIC in goals scored. The Cats travel to township and MIC rival Lawrence Central on Tuesday, another MIC game at Center Grove on Thursday, and then back at home Saturday for a game against Brebeuf. Girls Soccer: The Wildcats (5-3, 3-2 MIC) went 2-1 last week. The team lost to Carmel 4-0 but rebounded against Pike for a 5-0 win. Grace Moore scored two goals, and Sara Alonso, Ryli John and Aireana Grimes also put one in for the Cats. Elyse Moser had a great game in goal with the shutout.

Boys Tennis: The Wildcats (4-4) traveled to Mt. Vernon and beat the Marauders 5-0. Cade Satz led the team with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles. The match against Lawrence Central was rained out. The team will play at home against Roncalli on Monday, on the road against Westfield on Tuesday, and then compete in the MIC Championships this weekend.

Volleyball: The #7 Wildcats (10-3, 3-0 MIC) went 3-0 this week. The girls beat Heritage Christian in straight sets for Coach Nick Cox s 100 th career win. They followed that up with another straight set win against MIC rival Warren Central, and then saved the best for last with an exciting 3-2 win on Thursday against #1 Cathedral in the IndianaSRN.org Game of the Week! The final score was 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 12-25, 15-10. The Cats travel to take on #5 Carmel on Tuesday in a big MIC showdown for first place in the conference. 2016 2017 All-Sport Passes: Adult: $70.00 High School Student/Senior Citizen (65+): $50.00 Middle School/Elementary Student: $30.00 Individual game day tickets range in price from $5.00 - $10.00 depending upon the event. If you plan on going to several home events at the freshman, JV or varsity level then the All-Sports pass is the way to go! All-Sport passes can be purchased in the LN athletic office. A ticket to the 2016 City Securities Hall of Fame Classic basketball tournament on December 30 th (to be televised on WHMB TV-40) is included with the purchase of an All-Sport Pass! Coach Keefer talks about how excited his team is about playing in the City Securities Hall of Fame Classic! This will be the 4 th time that the Wildcats have played in this pretigious tournament, winning the previous three times they competed in the event!
