1 Last Week in Pinkerton Academy Athletics Boys Cross Country: Saturday, October 29th, 2017 Varsity: NHIAA Championships Going into the Division One Championship The Long Red Line was ranked 5th. Pulling off a fourth or third place finish would have meant a remarkable performance would of been necessary. However, the performance was extraordinary! With the youngest varsity top seven in the team's history. The Long Red Line captured the Runner-Up plaque edging Londonderry by two points! Leading the way was junior Joe Gagnon placing 7th with a personal best of 16:41. The the "pack attack" was in full display! Sophomore Nathan Steiger 16th in 17:12.2, Junior Jeff Mize 17th in 17:12.3, and Sophomore Nolan Preble 18th in 17:13.1. All three had monster PR's! All three passed several runners in the last 200 meters to ensure the runner-up finish. Placing 31st was junior Steve Groulx racing a 17:32 for the 5000 meter course. Rounding out the Astro's top seven were Juniors Ethan Desmarais and Zach Aham placing 37th and 43rd respectively. Team Scores: 1. Concord Pinkerton Academy Londonderry Nashua North Winnacunnet Keene 174 Our next race is the prestigious Meet of Champions on Saturday November 4 at Mines Falls, Nashua at 2:30 pm. In addition, we have the 29th Annual Walter E. Roberts JV vs Faculty race at 3:30 on Friday. All paces are welcomed. Run, jog or walk. Come join us for an afternoon of fitness! Girls Cross Country:
2 Saturday, October 29th, 2017 Varsity: NHIAA Championships For the third year in the row the Pinkerton Girls Cross Country Team came home with the hard fought title of Division I Champions! Today at Derryfield Park the PA Trailblazers took 1st place scoring 49 points to Bishop Guertin's second with 55pts. Full results can be found here: The top 7 teams advancing to Meet of Champions were: 1 Pinkerton Total Time: 1:39:11.10 Average: 19: Bishop Guertin Total Time: 1:39:23.30 Average: 19: Nashua South Total Time: 1:44:01.30 Average: 20: Merrimack Total Time: 1:45:23.40 Average: 21: Manchester Central Total Time: 1:45:15.10 Average: 21: Exeter Total Time: 1:43:52.30 Average: 20: Alvirne Total Time: 1:45:34.00 In first for PA and taking 5th place overall was Meghan Cross with a time of 19:35. Also earning top 10 honors with a 7th place overall was Ciara April. Hot on her heals was Britney Johnson with an 8th place finish. Jordan Vaillancourt finished 12th overall and Maison D'Amelio ran a strong race to place 17th. All girls earned top 25 all division honors.
3 Freshman Katie Boucher and Sophomore Ashley Ahern rounded out the top 7 to bring home the title for the Trailblazers. Our next race is Meet of Champions at Nashua South High School next Saturday. Field Hockey: Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 Varsity: Pinkerton 0 - Londonderry 1 Pinkerton lost in the quarterfinals 0-1 against Londonderry. Football: Friday, October 27th, 2017 Varsity: Pinkerton 56 - Merrimack 21 Pinkerton took on Merrimack Friday night, beating Merrimack Quarterback Aiden Goujon threw 4 touchdown for 229 yards. Pinkerton had 12 different rushers, who ran for over 370 yards, in 37 carries. Pinkerton will take on Nashua South in the Saturday at 1pm. Boys Soccer: Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 Varsity: Pinkerton 3 - Keene 1 Alex Rust scored two goals while Cole Perry added another to help Pinkerton to a victory in the preliminary round of the Division I NHIAA Tournament. Playing well was Jon Tremblay and Henry Andrews. Brian Castle added two assists. #4 Pinkerton host #5 Hanover on Saturday. Both team are riding 11 game winning streaks. Saturday, October 28th, 2017
4 Varsity: Pinkerton 1 - Hanover 0 The #4 Astros hosted #5 Hanover in a tightly contested quarterfinal match. 100 minutes (80 regulation minutes + 20 sudden death overtime minutes) couldn t resolve the issue. In penalty kicks, Hanover scored on 2 of it s 5 shots while Pinkerton scored 3 out of 4. Max Fairbank saved 2 shots including the final shot to earn a birth into their 5th final four in the last 10 years. Scoring penalty kicks for the Astros were: Terrence Coyle, Cole Perry, Henry Andrews. Pinkerton s 5th shooter, Brian Castled did not have to take his kick. Playing well for PInkerton was Jon Tremblay, Alex Rust, and Struker Coyle. Girls Soccer: Friday, October 27th, 2017 Varsity: Pinkerton 1 - Alvirne 0 Game report: Pinkerton beats Alvirne 1-0 in their first playoff game. The Astros played great defense, only allowing Alvirne a couple shots in the game. Nicole Alves scored the goal in the first half on an Enya Vanasse-Lagueax assist. Brittany Johnson added a few shots and just missed a header goal off an Adria Forand corner. Pinkerton looks to play number one seed Central on Sunday. Sunday, October 29th, 2017 Varsity: Pinkerton 0 - Central 2 Girls Volleyball Saturday, October 28th, 2017 Varsity: Pinkerton 0 - Nashua South 3 Game 1: Pinkerton 23 - Nashua South 25 Game 2: Pinkerton 19 - Nashua South 25 Game 3: Pinkerton 22 - Nashua South 25
5 The Girls Varsity Volleyball team had their outstanding season come to an end when they were beaten by Nashua South in the Division I quarterfinals by a score of 3-0. Senior setter Sara Metzger played strong in her final game as she dished out 19 assists while also getting 12 service points and 6 aces. Junior standout Amelia Graves picked up 7 service points, 2 aces, 6 kills, and 15 digs. Fellow outside Ella Dandrade added 15 digs, 4 kills, 6 service points, and 2 aces. Senior Megan Hough contributed 4 kills, and a block. Senior Caroline Mills had the game s 2 outstanding digs that led to points, and Senior Nicole Baron added 6 service points and 2 aces. This excellent team finished with a 16-3 final record and earned the runner-up spot in the regular season. Athletes of the Week: Ciara April, Junior: Cross Country Ciara April finished with a gutsy 7th place finish in our Division I State Championship race. We would not have brought home the plaque without that performance. Max Fairbank, Junior: Boys Soccer Junior Goalkeeper Max Fairbank: has helped the Astros to two playoff victories (3-1 over #13 Keene, 1-0 over #5 Hanover). In the quarterfinal game against Hanover, Max did not allow a goal in 100 minutes of soccer (80 regulation minutes and 20 sudden death overtime minutes). During the Penalty Kick session (each team gets 5 shooters) Max made two saves including the game clinching save on Hanover's final shooter. Max has earned 14 victories this season, including 8 shutouts.
