We have completed our last car show of the year, and the Edinburg show was a great success! There were three other shows on the same day. We had 52 registered entries. Not bad considering. It was a good size for Edinburg, as show space was limited. We had some great cars and weather! Plenty of food and entertainment too! October is the last month to get out and enjoy the cars we work so hard on. As I write this we are getting ready for the Charlottesville Fun Run on Saturday, September 26. I hope to see a good turnout from the Region. As always, be sure to keep the paint side up and the rubber on the road. Welcome New Members! VOLUME 28 NO. 10 THE SPLIT RIM PAGE 3 Results from Charles Town Car Show Jim Tillery with the Coordinator s Trophy at the Charles Town Car Show. On September 5, the annual Labor Day weekend car show was held in downtown Charles Town, WV. The entire downtown area was blocked off for six blocks to accommodate the 340 cars in attendance. All proceeds benefited Jefferson County Community Ministries. Most of the cars in the show were muscle cars, modifieds, and hot rods, plus some highly restored original cars. There were not many antique classics in the show except for the ones from the Shenandoah Region, which were represented by Allen Bond, Eric Kirk, Curt Mason, Dan Rowzie and Jim Tillery. Curt Mason's car was covered with mud and the number "31", having just come off the American Speed" movie set at Winchester Speedway. We have a movie star in our midst! Jim Tillery was the Region's big winner with the Coordinator's Pick trophy for his 1936 Pack- (Continued on page 4)

VOLUME 28 NO. 10 THE SPLIT RIM PAGE 4 Charles Town Show (continued from page 3) General Meeting driving directions ard Touring Sedan. During the car show there were door prizes, a farmer's market, a 1950's costume contest, and a "Grease" dance performance in the streets by the local high school. All in all it was a great day with perfect weather and something for everyone. Starting just west of Winchester Medical Center, from the intersection of Route 37 and Route 50 -- Drive west on Route 50 (Northwestern Pike) for approximately 2 miles. Shortly after crossing Nat l Lutheran Blvd., turn left on Rte 654 (Poorhouse Rd) At 0.2 miles, just before Round Hill Fire Station, turn right on Rte 803 (Round Hill Road). At 0.3 miles, turn right at Church rear driveway (Trinity Lane) into the parking lot. The Fellowship Hall entry is at the bottom level, rear of Church, off the parking lot. If you are driving east on Route 50, you can turn right directly into the front driveway of the Church. Proceed around the building to rear parking lot. What do these 2 things have in common? For more pictures of the show and the full story, see page 9 of this newsletter! It was a great event.

VOLUME 28 NO. 10 THE SPLIT RIM PAGE 7 2015 Edinburg OLD TIME FESTIVAL Car show What a Year!! Every car show the club sponsored had fabulous weather. Edinburg was no exception. Great job by our illustrious president Mark Dinsmore on putting on a fun day. Congratulations to Ginger Garbarini for winning the Grand Marshal s award with her stunning red Rolls Royce. (Photo on page 2.) It sure is an attention getter! In spite of all the car shows on that date, we had a good number of cars we don t often see at our Winchester shows and we had good club representation winning our share of the Top Ten awards.

PAGE 8 THE SPLIT RIM VOLUME 28 NO. 10 36 attend Yellow Springs Fun Run The Fun Run to Yellow Springs at the Capon Valley Ruritan Club was attended by 36 members from Queen City Region and SRAACA region. The weather was perfect for a drive through the countryside of West Virginia. The Ruritan club is a great setting for an afternoon picnic. The food was terrific. Fuzzy Coon was right at home with all the food in the kitchen. It was a great afternoon of fellowship with our antique car friends. Too bad more members didn t make the run to share the day with us. Thanks to Boyd Kilmer for use of the cooking pot, Dwayne and Bonnie for supplying the chicken and Mark and Barry for leading the caravan to the picnic. George Travis again provided his expertise at cooking large quantities of corn. Submitted by Bob Engle Many hands made light work of the preparations for the picnic. Hats off to all who chipped in!

VOLUME 28 NO. 10 THE SPLIT RIM PAGE 9 White Post 75 th anniversary car show is rousing success The August 29 return of the WHITE POST CAR SHOW was a terrific success! Over 240 fantastic cars were on display at a great venue at White Post Restoration s grounds. Club member participation was high and we all enjoyed the fellowship of the day. A few member s car photos show the diversity of our club. We definitely need to lobby the White Post Restorations team to make this an annual event! Submitted by Bob Engle
