Mr. Mcpherson will be 100 years young on August 12th, and we will celebrate with a special birthday party on August 11th! Mr. Mcpherson is a known socialite and is quite the charmer. He s a retired Army veteran and father of 3: Louis, Jesse Jr., and Richard. Mr. Mcpherson joined the Regency family in June of 2014 and has since warmed the hearts of all of those around him. recent events Pizza Pizza! July What beats a bus ride and plenty of pizza? Well, according to a few of the Memory Care residents, the answer is NOTHING! They all enjoyed the bus ride to Pizza Hut and ate pizza until they almost popped! It was a great lunch outing. Paparazzi Jewelry Party July 10th Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of shopping in the comfort of their own home! Nutrition Bingo July 10th Thank you to the University of Alabama s students and professors, Dr. Amy Ellis and Dr. Kristi Crowe- White of the nutrition department, for hosting a special game of Bingo. Our residents not only had fun playing, but learned a lot of valuable information about some of their favorite foods! They are also doing a research study on the benefits of watermelon on women ages 55+. If interested, please see Kiara for more information. Peach Park July 14th No better way to end the week than taking a road trip to get fresh peaches! We loaded up and ventured down to Clanton, AL home of the famous Chilton County peaches! The residents enjoyed great bbq for lunch, finished the meal with the best peach cobbler and peach ice cream for dessert, then took a stroll through the park. We all brought back plenty of peaches! August 7th at 2:00 pm Luau with The Alexanders Join us in the Dining Room for a Hawaiian/ beach themed party with live music by The Alexanders! Dress out in your favorite beach attire or hula skirt and sip tasty piña coladas! August 11th at 9:30 am Memory Care Music Therapy Blake Franklin will be back for his monthly music therapy group! August 22nd at 6:30 pm Pickens County Male Chorus They re back! Join us in the chapel for some great singing by the Pickens County Male Chorus. August 24th at 1:30 pm Doggone Good Time! August 26th is National Dog Day. We ll visit the local dog shelter and have some fun with man s best friend. August Rubber Band Ball Mr. Charley Vaden is still on the quest towards the Guinness World Record for the largest rubber band ball. As of July, it weighed around 115 lbs with 59,000 rubber bands! community spotlight Emmett Boothe Mr. Emmett Boothe has been a member of the Regency family for 2 years. He s an easy going gentleman, who has enjoyed years of hunting, fishing, and car racing. Mr. Boothe is an Army veteran who fought in the Korean War. After serving 7 years in the military, Mr. Boothe became a dedicated worker of the Gulf State Paper Mill, where he eventually retired. Mr. Boothe is always open for a good conversation over a cup of coffee! Thank you, Mr. Emmett Boothe, for making Regency your home!
