SOUTH UMPQUA ROD AND GUN CLUB A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. 845 Rod and Gun Club Road Riddle, Oregon 97469 Mailing Address: P.O. Box 639 Canyonville, Oregon 97417 Range Status Phone: (541) 357-7874 Website: www.surgc.org Newsletter for January 2013 NEXT GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING SUNDAY, JANUARY 6th, 2012 @2PM AT THE CLUBHOUSE At the Membership Meeting on December 2, 2012, Bill Hagan pointed out that the roofing material on the 100 Yd Range, has areas that blew off during the recent storms. We have been repairing the roofing at least 3 times per year. He recommended that we obtain costs for a metal roof, similar to the roofs on both the 50 Yd and Pistol Ranges. The Board has determined that the roofing is an emergency priority with the added winter weather ahead, and we are proceeding with the metal roofing installation. Lynn Herbert has agreed to donate the 2x4 s for the backing of both the 100 Yd & 50 Yd Ranges. This will provide added comfort and a wind break when plywood is added and will enhance the shooting stations, and will be similar to the backside of the Pistol Range Bldg, with 2 plastic for light & ventilation. We will also provide an enclosure for the wood stove at the 50 Yd Range. In addition, he is donating 2x8 s,2x4 s & 4x4 s in order to reinforce the rafters supporting the new roofing at the 100 yd Range and also for the 50 yd Range. He stated, that when he was young, they had 30 of snow which collapsed a shed at the mill. He wanted to make sure that the addition of the metal roofing will have sufficient support for wind, rain & snow. The Club is very grateful for his involvement in the Gun Club and his generous donation of materials, his tractor and time. The Gun Club has a total of 11 Life Members; July 8th, 2006: Jesse Rust; John Eyers; Patricia James; Charles Ireland Jr. Nov 10th, 2007: Kirk Tyler May 4th, 2009: James Kunkle; Marilyn Kunkle Mar 26th, 2010: Calvin Palmquist May 10th, 2010: Jerry Heavrin Dec 8th, 2012: Cynthia Houston
