Valleys made the perfect start scoring a goal from Joe lynch after the kinsale goalkeeper misjudged a bouncing ball. By the 20th minute Valleys lead by 1-5 to a point with the Valleys points coming from Joe lynch(2), Fearghal Lyons (2), Brendan lynch and this year s Captain - Liam Dempsey. In the last ten minutes of the first half Kinsale came more into the game scoring two points before the break. The half time score was Valley Rovers 1-5 Kinsale 0-3. Into the second half it was Valleys who made the better start with a brilliant goal from Paddy O Sullivan after being set up by Tomas Sweetnam. With further points from Tomas Sweetnam and Liam Dempsey, Valleys were ahead by 2-7 to 0-5 at the three quarter mark. Into the last quarter both sides swapped three points each. The three Valleys points coming from Liam Dempsey, Brendan lynch and Tomas Sweetnam. It left the full time score Valley Rovers 2-10 kinsale 0-8. The result means that Valleys are topping both the Junior A & B football leagues and remain unbeaten in both leagues this year. Minor Non Exam Football League Valleys minor footballers welcomed Carbery Rangers to Brinny for their non exam football league game last Tuesday. Carbery started this game brightly and were leading at half time on a score line of 3-5 to 1-2 with valleys goal coming from Aaron O Leary and points from Aaron and Sean Barry. Valleys came into the game in the second half with goals from Sean Barry, Aaron O Leary and Brian McCarthy. With points from Darragh Keane and Niall Lawton the game was a close affair. A number of goal chances we didn t take proved costly in the end with Carbery winning 4-10 to 4-6. This was a good performance as Carbery are in the P1 grade. Team: Cathal O Sullivan, Darragh Keane, Dave Muckian, Cormac Lyons, Jack Hurley, Brian Hoey, Niall Lawton, Ronan O Connell, Mark O Leary, Sean Barry, Aaron O Leary, Micheal Connolly, Daniel Lynch, Cian Crowley, Eoin Nash. Subs used: Brian McCarthy, Niall Kiely, Ben Carthew, Cormac Kildukk. Scorers: A O Leary (2-2), S Barry (1-2), B McCarthy (1-0), Darragh Keane, Niall Lawton (0-1 each). Minor Non Exam Hurling League Valleys minor hurlers travelled to Ballinspittle last Friday night for their first non exam hurling league game. The game was nip and tuck in the first half but for two late goals had Courceys leading 2-9 to 0-8 at half time. Valleys scores coming from Mark O Leary, Conor Taheny, Cian Crowley and Cathal O Sullivan. The second half went the same as the first half with not much between the sides. Goals from Eoin Nash and Conor Taheny helped valleys into a two point lead but Courceys responded with a number of points. A few dubious frees late on in the game & they ran out winners Courceys 2-20 to Valleys 3-13. This was another good performance as we were missing a number of players that could play this game. Valley Rovers u16 played Killeagh Ita's in a replay last Wednesday evening after a drawn game the week before with a score line of 6.17 to 5.20. Both sets of defenses played a lot better for the replay, however Killeagh Ita s got off to a better start and led 1.8 to 0.4 points at half time. The Rovers started the second half well scoring 3 points, however Killeagh got on top again to lead 1-11 to 7 points. Some positional changes were made & substitute Eoghan Crowley was introduced and with his first touch scored a great goal. Within minutes another great goal from Ciaran McCarthy, set up by Adam Walsh Murphy, put us ahead for the first time of the game. With great defensive play from Jason Cronin, Johnathon Keneally & Cian O Keeffe, Killeagh were kept from scoring. Further great play from Dara Devine in mid field & Ciaran O Shea, meant the Rovers came out on top with a final score line of 2-14 to 1-13. Congrats to all the players who played so well over 140 minutes of hurling against a great side, & who all worked extremely hard for a great victory. Page 3 of 11

U10 Hurling League Valley Rovers U10 boys welcomed Youghal to Brinny on Saturday morning last in the next round of their hurling league. The Rovers fielded two teams with one winning well & the other competing well but coming out on the wrong side of the score line unfortunately. U12 County Camogie League Valley Rovers U12 Camogie team started their league campaign when they took on Sarsfields on Saturday morning last in ideal conditions in Brinny. This was a good solid performance for the first outing especially considering they were short a number of regulars due to First holy Communions taking place locally also. Their next game will be next Saturday v Tracton in Minane Bridge. U14 Ladies Football League The U14 s contested the West Cork semi final against Bandon on Sunday last. Unfortunately it wasn t to be for this team who came a close second to a fine Bandon team on the night. Keep up the head girls, county is only around the corner. Congrats & best wishes to Bandon in the final. Division 2 league Well done to our ladies footballers who beat Beara in Brinny on Sunday. Final score 5-11 to 4-7. Club Development Repainted goalposts have been erected in the Bleach Pitch over the past few days. Resodding of water damaged areas has been completed. Resodding has been completed in and around the erected goalposts. The pitch is lined out with flags in sleeve inserts. The pitch is about 3 weeks away from the playing of full games, however this time estimate remains weather dependent. We will provide an update in or around the 1st of June, before pitch bookings are made. It is important that any training or playing of games, which takes place on the Bleach pitch, over the next 3 weeks, is not on the resodded areas and not on the areas that have been reseeded last year. The bad weather has hampered our ability to deliver back the pitch along expected timelines. We are grateful for the ongoing patience and cooperation of Club Members and Team Managers / Mentors, with regards to ongoing development works and the time it has taken. Massive congratulations to Valley Rovers own Jack Walsh after being named April s winner of Corks 96 and C103Fm Cork Sports Star award in association with the Rochestown Park Hotel. Now available to all club supporters are South East season tickets. These are priced at 30 Single and 50 Couple which are great value. Application to Secretary Rose Hoey at 085/7038198 by text only.
