R I V E R R I D G E A T H L E T I C S. O R G September 10, 2018 Get Ready for Homecoming! We have some really exciting things planned for the River Ridge community over the next few weeks. This year, there will be a build up to Homecoming that will last a few weeks. Our classes have been earning points for attending events and participating in our school themes. You may have seen QR codes on campus at events. Students can sign in with those codes to earn points for their classes. They will also be able to gain points at a variety of event over the next few weeks. We are excited to an- nounce that Powder-Puff is back, and several new events and contest will be taking place to crown a class winner for Homecoming. Please check the newsletter for information. Fliers and information will be released over the next few days via twitter and the school website. We are looking forward to some great events! Edge of the Sword: GETTING STARTED FALL SPORTS HONORS Athlete of the Month is back! I was so glad to spend some time with these great student -athletes. Volleyball- Legacy Guider Softball- Grace Hamrick Cheer- Sammi Lindstrom Football- Ben Goff Cross Country- Cayden Crismon, Uriel Mejia

Volleyball- There are very few teams who put on a Senior Night event as well as our volleyball team. Not only do we recognize our seniors, but seniors from the opposing team are recognized as a part of our ceremony. It is great to see the families walk through the ROTC sabers and remember the accomplishments, funny stories and lessons learned from their time as a Knight. Thanks for all that you have done for the school.

Softball- Busy week coming up for our girls. We have Senior Night Monday night against state powerhouse Cambridge, and then have region contests the rest of the week. Our girls had two tough games last week, but they are ready to make a run in the Region as we get closer to the Region Tournament.

On the Run- Cross Country faced excellent competition at the Coach Benson Double Dip hosted by Marist HS on Saturday. The boys finished 18th of 24 teams while the girls placed 12th of 22. Freshman Cayden Crismon, 18th place, was the only medal winner for the Knights. Boys individual photo is Rylan Haskett flying to the finish.

Homecoming is right around the corner, and we are excited about all of the events that are planned and look forward to faculty, staff, students and community participation. Page 6

Support Your Knights Once again, Shottenkirk Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep has given an amazing gift to all CCSD High Schools. A 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been donated so all of our sports teams can sell raffle tickets and earn money for their programs. Tickets are only $5, and all profits go to the team that you purchase from. Ask an athlete or member of the band for a ticket. They would be happy to sell you a few... Page 11

Powder Puff is Back! The greatest show on turf is back and will serve as the official Kick-Off for Homecoming activities. Registration will be on September 14 before school Page 12

Friday Night Lights It was a rough night for our boys at Allatoona. We went up against one of the best teams in the state and they came out on top. We fought a tough opponent and a 45 minute weather delay. The boys do not give in, and the lesson they are learning against quality opponents will serve them well in the coming weeks. We will be at Osborne this week and then off Page 13
