A message from the Chairman... Good evening everyone, and welcome to tonight s Lancashire FA Amateur Shield Semi-Final tie between Thornton Cleveleys FC and Slyne with Hest FC. On behalf of the Lancashire Football Association, I d like to welcome all of you to tonight s match. I d also like to extend a very warm welcome to our sponsors for this competition, Light Distribution. Tonight s match will be a heated affair, as both Thornton Cleveleys and Slyne with Hest are competing on multiple fronts this season. Not only have both teams reached the semi-final stage of this prestigious competition, but they both sit at the top end of the West Lancashire Football League Premier Division, with promotion in mind for both sides. All the coaching staff and players of both sides should be congratualted for what they have already achieved this season. Tonight is the only thing standing between both sides and a place in the Final at The County Ground, Leyland on 1 May, so I m sure we will see some fantastic cup action. I d like to thank Lancaster City FC for hosting tonight s semi-final tie and wish both sides the very best of luck for this evening s game. Enjoy the match. A Brief History of Thornton Cleveleys FC Mentions of Thorton Cleveleys FC go as far back as the early 1900 s, but the first records of the club show a team known as Thornton Jubilee Football Club in the 1930 s and Trunnah United in the 1950 s. The present seniors club, in its more familiar guise was formed in July 1980 when Ronnie Andrews brought the Thornton Catholic Club side to ICI In 1982 the First team were Division Two Champions. By 1987 the Reserve side had moved to the West Lancashire League Reserve division and in 1991 they won the league championship. In the 1991/92 season the first team were once again West Lancashire Division Two Champions, and also runners-up in the Presidents Cup. In April of 2003, the first team won the Tavern Cup and the Reserves were double winners in the 2003/04 season being both Reserve Division Two champions and winning the Houston Cup. In 2010 the first team were Division One winners seeing a return to the Premier Division and in 2014 lifted this very competition for the very first time in the clubs history.

Amateur Shield Winners

A Brief History of Slyne with Hest FC Hest Bank Football Club was formed in 1957 and became members of the North Lancashire and District Football League playing on the existing ground at Bottomdale. The changing rooms were in the old cemetery laying-out rooms overlooking the ground. The team was primarily made up of younger players from the village. During the early eighties the club experienced significant growth both by developing the Clubhouse at the ground and introducing a reserve side. Promotion through the leagues followed, culminating in the both teams achieving regular promotions to reach Premier and First Divisions. The Club won a number of cups and the North Lancashire League Premiership in 2003 - also reaching the quarter finals of Lancashire Amateur Cup in that year. The next phase of Club generation was in 2008 when Trimpell FC (members of the West Lancashire League) approached the club with the proposal of merging under the Slyne with Hest banner. This was agreed and the Club then featured three senior sides playing in two separate leagues The club also retaines a close relationship linked with both Morecambe FC and Lancaster FC
