RHP James Shields, who has worked at least 6.0 IP in 22 of his 28 starts this season, is scheduled to start for the White Sox. The White Sox are 1-2 on the homestand, splitting a pair of 6-1 decisions after losing Thursday's opener, 9-4, despite holding a 4-0 lead. Following today's game, the Sox continue the homestand with three games each vs. Detroit (9/3-5) and the Angels (9/7-9). The Sox went 5-2 on their last trip to Detroit (3-1) and New York-AL (2-1) from 8/23-29, including their fi rst series win at Yankee Stadium since 2005. TODAY'S STORYLINES The White Sox have gone 12-6 since 8/14, tied with the Yankees for the second-best record in the American League behind Tampa Bay (12-5). The Sox are 17-12 since 8/2, moving from 9.0 games behind Detroit into a third-place tie with the Tigers in the AL Central. The White Sox own a 3.14 ERA (28 ER/80.1 IP) over the last nine games, including a 2.33 mark (14 ER/54.0 IP) and.176 (34-193) opponents average by the rotation. James Shields owns a 2.91 ERA (26 ER/80.1 IP) over his last 12 home starts this season. Yolmer Sánchez has reached base safely in a career-high 20 consecutive games (.422 on-base percentage), the longest streak by a Sox player since José Abreu (29) from 8/2-9/2/16. WHITE SOX ROSTER MOVES Prior to today's game, the White Sox returned C Welington Castillo from his injury rehab assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 10-day disabled list. The White Sox active roster increases to 28. LAST NIGHT'S RECAP The Red Sox scored three runs in the seventh inning to break open a 2-1 game and went on to defeat the White Sox, 6-1. Nicky Delmonico's RBI double off Eduardo Rodriguez in the sixth pulled the Sox within 2-1, but Boston answered with three runs in the seventh, aided by Carlos Rodón's throwing error. Rodón suffered the loss, allowing fi ve runs (four earned) on six hits over 6.1 IP, as his career-high, fi ve-game winning streak spanning nine starts came to an end his streak of nine straight quality starts while allowing fi ve hits or less, the longest such by a Sox pitcher since at least 1908, also ended. The White Sox struck out 18 times, their most in a nine-inning game since 8/8/97 at Seattle when Randy Johnson fanned 19. CELEBRATING HAWK The White Sox will celebrate the life and career of Ken Hawk Harrelson today during a pregame ceremony on Hawk Day the fi rst 10,000 fans who enter the ballpark will receive a Hawk Harrelson Nesting Doll, which features Hawk as a player, front office executive and broadcaster. Harrelson, who is in his 33rd and final season in the White Sox TV booth, will work today's game alongside A.J. Pierzynski. SOX PAIR FOR WORTHY CAUSE White Sox Charities are holding a special online charity auction in honor of Jerry Remy, the former Red Sox second baseman and current broadcaster who is on medical leave after recently being diagnosed again with lung cancer. Fans may bid on items through tonight at 7:00 p.m. CT at whitesox.com/auction, including autographed memorabilia from Carlton Fisk, A.J. Pierzynski and Chris Sale, who all played for both the Red Sox and White Sox. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Jimmy Fund, an official charity of the Red Sox that raises funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research. KOPECH'S HISTORIC START Michael Kopech has become just the third pitcher since at least 1908 to allow one run or less and one walk or less in each of his fi rst three major-league starts, joining St. Louis Donovan Osborne (1992) and Cleveland s Cody Anderson (2015). Kopech threw 3.0 scoreless IP on Friday in a rain-shortened outing after allowing one run over 8.0 IP in his fi rst two outings. He was 4-0 with a 1.84 ERA (9 ER/44.0 IP), four walks and 59 strikeouts over his last seven starts with Class AAA Charlotte. Rodón's streak of nine straight quality starts while allowing fi ve hits or less from 7/5-8/27 was the longest such streak by a White Sox pitcher since at least 1908 (Baseball Reference).
