Web site: www.flfalcon.com July/August 2018 Facebook Page: Suncoast Chapter of Falcon Club of America Greetings Fellow Falconeers! Presidents Message First, I want to thank all that came out to our gathering at the ACE Café in Orlando on Sunday, the 29th. Great place, great food and great company. And let s all remember that Fred Leivertz is the one that made that happen. And, it was exciting to see the other Falcon owners that came out to join us. What s on your car show calendar coming up? Get registered for the Turkey Run in November if you are attending and then get your info to Chuck Beason for parking. Well, don t forget the Lake Mirror Classic Car Show in Lakeland in mid-october. Registration is online at their website and must be completed about 2 weeks prior to attend. I will be going to Kannapolis, NC for the Carolina s Chapter Regional event at the end of August. And we will be meeting at one of the Ford s Garage location in a few weeks. See more details on events later in this newsletter. Let s all thank each other for the great job of connecting with other Falcon owners that are not Suncoast members. With the great follow up by Ray Chevalier, we have added lots of new members during the past year. Now let s figure out how to get all of us together. Thought s? If you have any suggestions for meeting formats or details we need to address, please contact me. My email is: shirawd@aol.com or call me anytime at 863-206-1990. I look forward to hearing for you. 39 th Annual FCA National Meet-Wichita In July Carolyn and I had the opportunity to attend the FCA National Meet in Wichita, KS. Our trip out took 3 days with overnight stays in MS and AR meeting up with fellow FCA members at each overnight stop, continuing or journey as a Falcon group. The weather didn t cooperate as we hit really heavy rain each day of our travels. After arrival in Wichita the temperatures were extremely hot, triple digits but thankfully there was some shade around the show field. Lots of very nice Falcons on hand with the final count being 197 Falcons on the show field. Suncoast Members and dear friends, Dave and Mary Wagner and Dick and Linda Harrington also attended this event. I spent most of my time in a swap space peddling Falcon parts and pieces so did not get to really check out the show cars. Every time I do the swap meet vendor thing I promise myself that it will be the last time as it is very confining to man the swap space. Carolyn and Carol Springer (Texas) planned a side trip on our return trip home stopping in Pawhuska, OK. Location of the Pioneer Woman Restaurant and Mercantile. We spent most of 1 day enjoying lunch in the famous restaurant and following Carol, Carolyn and Abby around the Mercantile during their shopping spree. Not a bad side trip as the ladies really enjoyed the visit. After the Pawhuska stop, the Springers headed southwest to Texas and we headed southeast to Florida arriving home late Tuesday evening. Next year the FCA National Meet will be in Winter Park, CO. Must decide, drive Falcon, trailer Falcon or fly, the easy way. Chuck and Carolyn Suncoast Chapter Members - 6 -
