Why is a sea horse called a horse if it is really a fish? It is because the sea horse has a long nose. Its long nose makes you think of a horse.

10 th Annual Disabled Veterans Turkey Hunt In early May2014 the Veteran Service organizations have once again come together to present the 10 th Annual Disabled Veteran Turkey Hunt. Even though we had some nice weather it was still a tough year to try and get some birds. Ben Gorski gets a beautiful bird on the first day of the turkey hunt. Also pictured: kneeling next Ben is his son Dana, Back row left to right: DAV Commander Dave Valtinson, DAV Adjutant Stephen Whitehead, DAV PDC Elphedge Mrozek If you remember back to last year when we had a snow storm right before the turkey hunt and had a few feet of snow to try and climb through just to get to the blinds. Well we didn t have that problem this year, we had nothing but nice days which made it all the more enjoyable to just sit in a blind and call on some turkeys. We met a great deal of new veterans and guides which is always an exciting time during the banquet. We even got to see the Vikings Bud Grant again so you know there were some great stories and fun had by all. Bud Grant from the MN Vikings was also there as a hunter and spoke about his time in the service At the end of the week a total of five turkeys were taken.all of which were beautiful birds and some even had very unique coloring. Each veteran left the event with a smile and some left with the satisfaction of bagging that elusive Camp Ripley Turkey. our events please have them send an email to:

The Old Glory Run The DAV of MN once again held The Old Glory Run in Cold Spring MN. It was a beautiful day to get out for a run or a walk in support of local veterans. Over 1,100 people showed up in support of our MN veterans at The Old Glory Run. The DAV National Commander and Adjutant even came around for the event and to visit us here in MN. It was a great opportunity to show them how supportive MN is to our veterans. A big thank you goes out to all of the individuals who came out and participated in the event and all of our sponsors who helped make the event possible. Without your support we could not complete our mission. DAV National Commander speaks about the DAV during the Old Glory Run in Cold Spring, MN

Cabelas Woodbury Grand Opening On May 17 th and 18 th 2014 Cabelas opened a new store in Woodbury, MN. What a great event this was with an outstanding opportunity to meet some of our local veterans. Our local Chapter 2 from ST Paul was on site and they had a great time meeting with people and explaining what we do.

Ely Fishing trip It was a little chilly when we started off the fishing trip in Ely MN. The Ely fishing trip is currently a program through the St Cloud VA that takes local veterans up to Ely MN for a few days of catching fish. There were about 50 veterans that made the journey Veterans from St. Cloud VA medical center who were able to get out fishing on the trip this year to get their hands on the great MN walleye. Throughout this trip catching walleye is exactly what happened every day that we were there. This trip truly is an amazing experience for our veterans to attend. Not only did we catch fish but we were able to make some new friends and learn some fishing tactics from Pro Fisherman Mark Courts. What a wonderful experience for all veterans involved. Rich catches his first fish and 15 years!!!
