I hope all of you have been able to get out to enjoy the course and the lodge. I would like to give a big thank you to Leo Chalfant for all the work he does with the PER fund that has helped bring some new things into the club as well as his work with the National Foundation. These things benefit our club greatly. Make sure to give him a pat on the back the next time you see him for a job well done. In October we will be having the Reminisce Band after the Closer Tournament. The band will be playing from 7:00 to 11:00 with a Steak or Chicken Dinner Special from 6:00 to 9:00. Make sure to reserve your table now because they go quickly. We also will be having them for a New Years Eve Party. Tickets are on sale now in the bar. Tickets will be $25.00 a person which includes your dinner. With golf coming to an end that also means couples golf will be as well. Make sure to have plans to come out on Saturday Nights for dinner once the season is over. Remember just because golf is over doesn t mean that the lodge is for the year and we would love to see everyone all year round. I hope everyone has a great couple months and we will see you around the lodge! They are $20.00 each and our Lodge gets $6.00 for each one sold. You have 365 chances to win. Number drawn for Sunday-Friday will be a $100 winner. Number drawn for Saturday will be a $250 winner. Number drawn for 4 th of July will be a $2500 winner and Number drawn for December 24 th will be a $2500 winner. (SALE OF CALENDARS DISCONTINUES AFTER 12-31-2013) THERE ARE 365 DAYS IN 2014 SO THE COST IS LESS THAN SIX CENTS A DAY FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR OF 2014. If you have not yet paid your dues yet, please do so. I will be dropping those not paid by the end of October from the active membership list. We cannot afford to pay Grand Lodge Fees, State Assn. and District assessments for those who have not paid dues. It is violation of Grand Lodge Statutes (Section 14.120) to permit anyone who has become unaffiliated for any reason, including absolute dimit to use any Lodge facilities including the bar and golf course. Not even as a guest of and affiliated Elk. It would also not be fair to our dues paid members to allow participation by unaffiliated members. Brett Ware and I attended the East District Fall meeting at Alexandria Lodge recently where our Lodge was presented a Citation of Merit for the growth in membership for last year. I was very pleased to hear that the new Grand Exalted Ruler, Millard C. Pickering stated that he would like to see the Lodges concentrate their philanthropic efforts toward the local communities. I encourage all of our members to come out and participate in the autumn and winter months. Your participation during this period is critical for our financial health to continue improving. We are making progress but still are not quite where we need to be. Reminisce Band will be in the Ball Room October 12 th @ 7:00 to 11:00 PM. There will be a $5.00 cover charge and tables may be reserved by calling the office (765) 759-7779). This is a very good band that plays a lot of good 50-60 s dance music. It will be open to the public and the band has a fairly large following, so it may be a good idea to make a reservation. Hope to see you out here. Dave Fuller

From the Greens Superintendent Dear Members, Another golf season is coming to an end. It has been a very different year from the past three, and I for one, have enjoyed it much more. The long stretches of heat and dry weather were not a problem this year and I think you can see the benefits of the cooler, wetter weather in the condition of the golf course. We still have several areas that we would like to improve upon and hopefully this fall we can undertake some drainage projects as well as some more tee renovations. We will also be aerifying greens, tees and fairways in the coming weeks. Greens will be aerified Monday September 9 th. The course will be closed the entire day. Thanks for your understanding. Rick Ellis Notes from the Pro, The summer has moved fast as September is here and another Labor Day is in the books. Congratulations to the team of Tim Carnes, Brandt Thomas, Ray Lusby, Jerry Winkle & Janet Johns who won with a 58. Nice playing. There were two teams tied for 2 nd at 59 and 5 tied for 4 th at 60. Thanks to all those who played. The Elks #245 Scramble ended a couple of weeks ago with the team of Rick Jones, Jim Winkle Jr, Blake Simmons, Todd Simmons, & TC Huffman winning with a score of 18 Under over 2 teams tied for 2 nd at 16 Under. The Club Championship finished a few weeks ago with a great weather weekend. Congratulations to our Ladies Club Champion Polly Craig and our Men s Club Champion Rick Glaze for some great play. Other Ladies winners were Linda Riegle B Flight, Rita Hough C Flight, & Nancy Riegle D Flight. Other Men s winners were Atin Jiamjerarat B Flight, Don Carpenter C Flight & JR Hopper D Flight. There are still a few golf events left this year so don t put the clubs up yet. The last Men s Pick Your Partner is Sat. the 14 th and the Ladies Closer Hot Ball Scramble is the 21st. Men s Night ends Thursday October 10 th and Friday Couples ends the 11 th. The Men s Schedule finishes with the Closer Hot Ball Scramble and Shootout October 12 th. Thanks, Goetz
