Prettyhappyaboutit got its head caught between the front gates. Consequently, all horses were removed from the barriers to allow the removal of Prettyhappyaboutit without any further incident. Prettyhappyaboutit and Zinone underwent veterinary examinations, with Zinone passed suitable to race, and Prettyhappyaboutit being found unfit to race. Acting on this advice, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Prettyhappyaboutit at 6.48pm. All monies bet for a win and /or place and concession betting onprettyhappyaboutit to be refunded. Race 2 TAB.COM.AU MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Bouledogue at 5.07pm after trainer R Laing advised the gelding was suffering swelling to both hind legs and was unfit to race. R Laing will provide a veterinary certificate with regard to Bouledogue. Trainer R Smerdon advised Stewards that Prince Stratum had shifted a plate and stood on an exposed nail en route to the course. Prince Stratum underwent a veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the near foreleg and was unsuitable to race. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 6.23pm. When questioned, B Evans (Rainbow Dane) explained that he was instructed to ride the mare a little quieter than normal in the hope that it would finish the race off better than it has been in recent starts. He said that after beginning well he took hold of Rainbow Dane in an effort to take up a mid field position in the small field, however; the mare dropped the bit and consequently got further back than he wished. He stated that Rainbow Dane raced at the rear of the field until near the 500 metres where he was able to secure a run to the outside of Alfal and in so doing eased Lakeside Lass wider. He added that he was of the view that approaching and rounding the home turn, Rainbow Dane was travelling well enough to rein in the leaders. Race 3 IVAN S PIES 0-58 HANDICAP - 2025 metres: After arriving on course, Set Zena was examined by the farrier, who expressed the view that the mare s hind plates were not up to industry standard and had to be re shod. In all of the circumstances, trainer D Clover was reminded of her obligations regarding presenting her horses to race with their feet shod to industry standards. Stewards approved an application by trainer L Oliver, to remove the ear muffs on Statute, which are a regular part of the mare s approved gear, due to the extreme heat. As the Clerk of Scales could not be sure that R Cross had claimed her full 2kg allowance on Seattle Silence when weighing out, the saddle was recalled and she was reweighed. Seattle Silence was slow to begin, losing ground (2L). For some distance passing the 600 metres, Blistered was held up for a run. Kipsiro raced wide from the 600 metres. Trainer R Meunier was reprimanded for presenting Doubt It late into the enclosure. Approaching the 1000 metres, Deal A Heart momentarily got its head up when racing close to the heels of Becketts Groom. As a result Deal A Heart shifted out taking Time Seeker out onto Kingston County, which in turn, caused some inconvenience to Prince Kilkarlen. Throughout the event, Time Seeker raced wide without cover. For a short distance passing the 600 metres, Deal A Heart was held up for a run.
After the 300 metres, She s So Canny (I Culliver) shifted out around the heels of Doubt It and in so doing, bumped Kingston County, which in turn, was carried out and brushed the hindquarters of Sanawaat. I Culliver was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground. B Melham (Choisziata) reported that the gelding raced greenly and in early and middle stages was inclined to lay out. Near the 400 metres, Misisipi Moonshine (NZ) was checked when tightened by Fantasy De Fleurs, which was carried in by Man Of Class (L Currie), which shifted ground despite the efforts of its rider to straighten his mount. Rounding the home turn Tricky Boy, which had been laying in, shifted out slightly, resulting in Mr Bandit Country (NZ) being carried out onto El Blazing Time, which was momentarily hampered.

P Mertens, rider of Heroic Tale, which performed below market expectations, stated that the colt dipped between the 600 and 400 metres and failed to run on in the home straight. A subsequent veterinary examination of Heroic Tale revealed the colt had sustained a small laceration to the near foreleg. Race 8 TAB.COM.AU SHOWCASE F&M 0-68 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Hyperventilate at 8.26am after trainer R Smerdon advised the filly was suffering from an ulcer on the epiglottis and was therefore unfit to race. Mr Smerdon will provide a veterinary certificate with regard to Hyperventilate. Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, Belaruski lay out. When under pressure in the home straight, Nadhima lay out. D Smith (Nadhima) was reprimanded for his excessive backhand whip use on the mare in the home straight. B Evans (Gracie Louise) reported the mare did not travel at any stage throughout the race and, in his opinion, did not feel right in its action. D Moor (Leoncita) reported the mare took up a forward position, however; commenced to give ground approaching the home turn despite his riding.
