Carey SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS: FROM SCTC 4/1/15 - Race 1 Trainer N Doyle advised that blood tests conducted on SPEEDSHOW following the race had failed to reveal any abnormalities and as such the gelding would now be retired from his stable. Race 7 Trainer M. Wilson reported to stewards in the days following the race MADONI was showing signs of the thumps. He stated he would treat the mare and continue with its current preparation. GCTC 27/12/14 - Race 1 Trainer H Page advised that following the disappointing performance of the TRICKY ROCKET she had extensive veterinary and blood tests conducted the results of which had failed to reveal any abnormalities. Whilst the rider on the day had expressed that the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation Mrs Page advised that she would now continue with its preparation. GCTC 3/1/15 - Race 6 Trainer D. Forster reported that Adabesi had sustained an injury to the near fore fetlock and would now be spelled.
As L. Cassidy, S. Payne, G. Cooksley, S. Galloway and R. Wiggins were not riding at today's meeting, riding changes were made as per the stewards summary sheet. Race 1: Skyracing.TV Maiden Plate - 2050m SMART BET - Jumped away awkwardly. NOTHING VENTURED - Bumped heavily by Smart Bet at the start. OTHER WAY - Tightened at start and lost ground. Lost ground when tightened for room passing the winning post on the first occasion. Tightened for room passing the 1600m between Our Baja, which shifted out slightly, and Casino Century. GANGSTA - Tightened at start and lost ground. Shifted in away from Smart Bet passing the winning post on the first occasion despite the efforts of its rider. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. CASINO CENTURY - Raced 3 wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 1200m. Lost off hind plate during the race. OUR BAJA - Buffeted passing the winning post on the first occasion when tightened for room and made contact with the running rail on a number of occasions. JOSHUA'S MIGHT - Improved onto heels near the 700m and had to be steadied. SCARLET POET - Rider T. Harrison reported the horse failed to handle today's rain affected conditions. Race 2: Bundaberg Distilling Co Maiden H'cap - 1050m I'M O'REILLY - Refused to load into the barriers and subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.05 pm. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on I'm O'Reilly were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 1.05 pm. 4 cents in the dollar for the Win #14 6 cents in the dollar for place of winner #14 7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6 5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #7 SP bets are subject to deductions Trainer J. Phelan was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required for the horse prior to its next race start. KING'S MEMORY - Slow to begin. Race 3 wide without cover. BOY SCOUT - Slow to begin. REAL HEART - Hung out from the 600m until entering the home straight. Rider T. Harrison
reported her mount raced greenly throughout. MAGGIORE - Raced wide throughout. Rider T. Bell reported that, in his opinion, his mount did not handle the rain affected conditions. BENTLES - Lost off hind plate in running. Race 3: Novotael Brisbane Airport Class 6 H'cap - 1110m DOCTOR DAVID - Declared a late scratching 12.45 pm due to the downgrading of the track. MISSING PAGE - Declared a late scratching 12.46 pm due to the downgrading of the track. PROTEST - Correct weight was delayed to allow T. Bell, rider of the 2nd placegetter, Superstition, and L. Tarrant, rider of the 3rd placegetter, Menacing, to view the stewards' patrol films to ascertain if they had grounds to lodge objections against Lucky Sound being declared the winner, alleging interference on the home turn and again near the 250m. After reviewing this, T. Bell declined to lodge a protest, however L. Tarrant lodged an objection against Lucky Sound, alleging interference rounding the home turn and near the 250m. After taking evidence from the parties and viewing the stewards patrol video, it was established that Menancing was shifted marginally wider on the home turn by Lucky Sound and near the 250 had to momentarily alter course when Lucky Sound shifted out under pressure. Stewards could not be satisfied that this interference warranted a reversal of placings and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge's placings. MENACING - Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover. BANDIT QUEEN - Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m and bumped another runner. Eased when tightened for room passing the 100m between Superstition and Girls World. SUPERSTITION - Bumped approaching the 100m. Shifted in and away from Lucky Sound passing the 100m. GIRLS WORLD - Bumped heavily on the hind quarters passing the 100m. Race 4: Powerade QTIS 3yo H'cap - 1110m GRAPEVINE - Declared a late scratching at 11.55 am due to the downgrading of the track. NOTONYOURLIFE - Declared a late scratching at 12.52 pm due to the downgrading of the track. SILVERENE - Slow to begin. A BIT WICKED - Jumped away awkwardly. Hung out for a major part of the race. Rider G. Goold reported the horse raced greenly throughout and made a recommendation to connections to add blinkers to the horse's gear for its next race start. DUREEZA - Raced 3 wide without cover. JESSELTON - Rider M. Cahill reported that at no stage was the gelding comfortable in the rain affected conditions.
CHARLOTTE GRACE - Bled from both nostrils during the event. Connections were advised that the horse would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months. SILVERENE - S. Fawke returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram over his declared riding weight and was fined $200. Race 5: Quest Breakfast Creek F&M Class 3 H'cap m DANDY FIRE - Declared a late scratching at 12.52 pm due to the downgrading of the track. TIPS N' TALES - Slow to begin. Rider T. Bell was fined $1000 for using his whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account jockey Bell's poor recent record with regard to breaches of this rule. DANSAL - Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping Lily My Girl. LILY MY GIRL - Bumped at start. MURTA CAPE - Rider T. Harrison reported it failed to handle the rain affected conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. BANCHORY LASS - Rider C. Munce was questioned regarding the tactics adopted in that he remained off the fence in a 4-wide position throughout. He stated that after viewing films of previous events he was of the view that the track had commenced to deteriorate on the fence and as a result he elected to remain away from that section of the track. He added that the overall performance had merit given the way the horse finished the race off. Race 6: Mittys Ratings Band 0-70 H'cap - 1050m SNITZIOLA - Declared a late scratching at 2.04 pm due to the downgrading of the track. FEROCITY FAIR - Declared a late scratching 12.46pm due to the downgrading of the track. MODERN WARFARE - Slow to begin. SPINHRO - Commenced to race fiercely passing the 900m when the pace steadied and had to be restrained from the heels of Captain Clayton for some distance. Continued to overrace in the middle stages. HEART OF MELBOURNE - Overraced in the early stages approaching and passing the 800m and had to be restrained from the heels of Spinhro. Bled during the event. Connections were advised that the gelding would be barred from riding for a period of 3 months. LADY JETSETTER - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Race 7: Gallopers Sports Club Benchmark 80 H'cap - 1650m SIGMUND - Declared a late scratching 2.20 pm due to the downgrading of the track.
ZELLARO - Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Rider T. Bell reported his mount raced flat today, adding it has not raced well in the past at this venue. PRUSSIAN HEART - Overraced in the early and middle stages. ELLA ENTY - Rider T. Bell reported his mount failed to handle the rain affected conditions, and also pulled up somewhat distressed following the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off hind leg. Race 8: Girls Day Out CG&E Class 3 H'cap - 1350m FASTA THAN LIGHT - Declared a late scratching at 11.55 am due to the downgrading of the track. ROYAL SCRIBE - Declared a late scratching 2.22pm due to the downgrading of the track. OOSTHUIZEN - Declared a late scratching 12.46 pm due to the downgrading of the track. MAXIMUM MERRIT - Declared a late scratching 3.53 pm due to the downgrading of the track. ALL THINGS IN TIME - Declared a late scratching 1.20 pm due to the downgrading of the track. COUP D'ETAT - Slow to begin and blundered after being bumped by another runner. ROYAL OCCASION - Hampered and lost ground after travelling a short distance. THREE BEERS PLEASE - Overraced in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild case of the thumps and a laceration to the near hind pastern. TANGARA - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. HOW CAN I HELP - Rider L. Tarrant was fined $1000 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account apprentice jockey Tarrant's poor recent record with regard to breaches of this rule.
