Some of her credits include: numerous music videos and industrials, LIVE! with Regis and Kelly, The Rachael Ray Show, Broadway on Broadway in Times Square, The New York Musical Theatre Festival, and more. She has been a 'SYTYCD' Vegas Finalist multiple times and has made it down to the Top 50 Female Dancers in Season 9. She has also been an adjudicator around the country for dance competitions and was a featured judge on Lifetime's television series "Dance Moms" with Abby Lee Miller. Courtney teacher master classes around the country and is on faculty with numerous dance conventions teaching alongside SYTYCD All-stars. STUDIO NY CITY CHARTER BUS TRIP COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND October 10,11,12 WE ARE OFF TO NEW YORK AGAIN FOR THEATER, DANCE CLASSES AT THE FAMOUS BROADWAY DANCE CENTER, SIGHTSEEING, AND SHOPPING! REGISTER ONLINE. Cost for round trip bus fare and 2 nights lodging: $365 per person The faculty at Studio for the Living Arts in Gray, and Center Stage Performing Arts in Raymond, invites local dance studios, parents, and friends,to join them for a weekend excursion to NYC! Transportation will be provided by a chartered Custom Coach 57-passenger bus. Lodging will be at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, 811 7th Ave 53rd St. located in Times Square. A parent must accompany their child, or with parental permission, the student may be chaperoned by another attending adult. DANCE CLASS OPTIONS: NY City is the dance capital of the world!!!!!!! BROADWAY DANCE CENTER: Classes at the studio are offered to students age 13+ from their weekly schedule of classes. This will be a motivating and inspirational experience for any dance student who would like to expand their dance training. (taking dance classes is optional). Cost is $18 per class and you can take as few or as many as you desire over the weekend. Just before the trip we send out their schedule info. they offer over 350 classes a week! We are registered as a group and we can pre-reserve a space in class if desired. More info. coming. For our younger dancers, Broadway Dance Center creates a private group class for our studios and they have one of their (amazing) faculty members teach the class, genre of our choice. ( Cost is usually $20 student) We will also be offering a Rockette Master Tap Class while we are in the city. On our last studio trip we really enjoyed the Rockette dancer/teacher and class so we will again offer that to 2 levels: Levels 2+3 master class and a level 4+5 master class. More info to come for cost. Estimating $20. THEATER: The theater district is within walking distance from our hotel and there are many shows to choose from. If you d like to see a show you can purchase discount tickets at TKTS which is located in Times Sq. that sells last minute available tickets to select Broadway shows for 25 or 50 percent off the original price, or buy ahead of time online at www.broadway.com etc. We plan to send a survey out to see if there is interest in buying group tickets. Our dance complex offers a limited amount of lockers for rent. Cost $ $85 ( Sept.-Sept.). Locker Agreements are available online on our website. Locker rentals will be on a first come first serve basis. Payment is required for locker reservation. Lockers are reserved a 12 month period of time beginning each September. Fees are not prorated or refundable. Join us for : Thursday, November 6, 2014, Merrill Auditorium,7:30pm Dancers may leave all of their dance shoes and dancewear attire in lockers so they do not have to bring them back and forth each week to class. Locker compartment size that is 12 wide, 23" high and 18" deep. Combination locks provided. Please review the Student Handbook Online on our website. Proper dance attire must be worn at all classes for the purpose of seeing bodylines and proper placement. The studio carries leotards, dance shorts/skirts, shoes, tights and all SLADC logo wear. For our dance students attending the Gray/New Gloucester school district, some buses do drop dancers off at the Gray Plaza on Route 100 at the studio after school. FMI: Please inquire at the bus garage to find out if this is available for your dancer. We have purchased group tickets to see Savion Glover at Merrill Auditorium and have a few seats left. Tony Award-winning tap dancer and choreographer (Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk) Savion Glover returns to scorch the Merrill stage in his first Portland appearance in over a decade. His new production, STePz, is an exuberant celebration of tap dance that pays homage to tap masters, while cementing Glover s own place in history. NUTCRACKER BALLET INTENSIVE August 25, 26,27,28 4-6:30pm Tuition $75 with Elizabeth Avantaggio and Kate Smedal INTENSIVE DETAILS : The Nutcracker Ballet Intensive is designed for any ballet dancer who wishes to take part in the studio s December 2014 Nutcracker performance. The Nutcracker is a professional production of Studio for the Living Arts Dance Complex for students. Nutcracker participation is open to ballet dancers from any school. Our annual Nutcracker performance will feature variations from the full length version of the Nutcracker, Acts I and II and we typically cast 150 performers. The Nutcracker Intensive curriculum will include daily technique class, nutcracker choreography and Nutcracker repertoire overview. Enrollment in the Intensive is required for all performers in order to learn the choreography. Day one: ballet technique class, Nutcracker repertoire overview, and casting roles are assigned by the Artistic Directors: Elizabeth Avantaggio, Katrina Smedal. Roles will be posted that evening. PLEASE NOTE: Following the Intensive, future rehearsals for the Nutcracker are NOT held during regular weekly class times at Studio for the Living Arts Dance Complex. All rehearsals are held over 8 Saturdays scheduled throughout Sept - December. Please consult the Nutcracker schedule on our website. Dancers should be able to make 6 of the 8. Dancers only need to attend the rehearsal portion for their role, aprox. 1.5 hr rehearsal time estimate. The Nutcracker performance is being held December 13th @ Windham Performing Arts Center, 2pm and 7pm performances. Dancers in the Nutcracker learn more than just ballet and an appreciation of the Arts.
