AGE P AGE 3 Book Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone by J. K. Rowling OLUME 9, SSUE V 16 OLUME 9, I SSUE 16 J ANUARY 11, 2019 Harry Potter is an orphan wizard whose parents were killed by a dark wizard named Lord Voldemort. Harry had to live with his aunt, uncle, and cousin. Then he got sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There he became friends with Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry went on a lot of cool adventures at Hogwarts. This is an amazing book I would recommend it to anyone. Zoe Williams This is our second guest book review. If you would like to submit a review of your favorite read, just put it in the box in the library. Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. Cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract, egg, and salt, and mix to combine. 3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Add this to the wet mixture in two additions, alternating with the milk. 4. Divide the batter into six bowls and dye it the colors of the rainbow. Pour the batter into a cupcake tin lined with cupcake liners, making sure to not mix the colors. 5. Bake in oven for 15 minutes. Let cakes cool completely. 6. Crumble a little of each color of cake into individual bowls. 7. Pour 1/4 cup white chocolate chips and whipping cream into a small pot and set to medium heat. 8. Stir constantly until the chocolate has melted, then divide evenly between the cake. Stir until the cake is fully coated in the chocolate mixture. 9. Place a sheet of plastic wrap on your cooking surface and stack small disks of each color of cake on top of each other in the order of the rainbow. 10. Wrap the plastic wrap around the cake and shape into a ball. Remove the plastic wrap and place the cake pops on a plate lined with plastic wrap. Place in the freezer until firm (about 20 minutes). 11. Dip the lollipop sticks into some melted white chocolate and stick one into each cake pop. Return the cake pops to the freezer for the chocolate to set (about 5 to 10 minutes). 12. Dunk the cake pops into the melted chocolate, gently tapping the lollipop stick to remove any excess chocolate. 13. Pop into the freezer for 10-15 minutes and enjoy! Bite into the cake pops to reveal a beautiful rainbow center! P ATRIOT TIMES P AGE 5 Patriot Illustrated This season of winter sports, first off we will talk about the wrestling team. Trenton Bush had hit his 100th win in his middle school record at his last meet, which was held at West Fairmont on January 5th. Trenton is close to breaking the middle school record, which is 110. The next meet is on January 9th at Bridgeport. Now we will focus on boys basketball. The Patriots took the win against Mountaineer Middle. Hunter Davisson dropped 33 points. This was the Patriots first win of the season. The cheerleading team placed third in their last meet. The next meets will be January 19th and January 26th.
