NORTHWOODS NEWS COMPLIMENTED CLASSROOM FOR MAY 19, 2017 CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STUDENTS IN MRS. ODEGARD S 5 th GRADE CLASSROOM NORTHWOODS BOGO BOOK FAIR THANKS NORTHWOODS PARENTS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! We had another successful bookfair! We had lots of fun watching everyone take advantage of the sale and stock up for summer reading. Once again, our sucker tree was a success. We gave out lots of prizes and kids got a chance to win some books. The winners were announced on Monday morning. We were able to donate 80 books to Kari Fisher for her summer reading program with all the "All for Books" money earned! Thank you to everyone who donated. We also provided 80 books for all the new incoming kindergarteners and a stack of books for Julie in the library A HUGE "thank you" goes out to Tanya Kistner, Gina Kittlstadt, and Michelle Lavoll. Without their help the book fair would not have happened. Also a big thanks to Dave and Chris (our custodians) for helping with the set up and take down. We hope everyone is enjoying their new books!

IMPORTANT END OF THE YEAR LIBRARY INFORMATION LAST WEEK OF LIBRARY CHECK-OUT IS MAY 22-26. PLEASE RETURN ALL LIBRARY BOOKS AND PAY ANY FINES THE WEEK OF MAY 30- JUNE 2. Have a wonderful summer and keep READING!! Mrs. Misurek SCIENCE FAIR FROM THE PTO The Science Fair was a huge success!! We had 102 students participate in this great event. Thank you to all the parents of these students for helping them out with all their great displays. Everyone had a great time walking around and seeing all the amazing things our students did! We also had 5 community vendors that came in to share how Science impacts their work! We would like to thank: All the volunteers that came to help the day of the event; they helped with set-up; manned the snack table; and helped clean up. We had 20 judges that consisted of retired teachers, EC school board members, college students and other members of the community. Our sponsors generously contributed money to help cover the cost of the t-shirts that our students received as well as over 30 prizes that were given out (all prizes have been given out). Special thanks to the Science Fair committee for all their hard work on this great event: Heather Market-Sullivan; Carla Berscheit; Tara Geske; Jessica Klesmit; Laurie Erdman; Donna Ash; Chris Knoll; Bobbi Schultz and Amanda Binczak. Thanks to all our Northwoods teachers that supported our efforts for a Science Fair and the many who attended the fair to see their student s projects! We couldn't have done all of this without your help.

Northwoods Chorus This year, the Northwoods Chorus has been selected as the choir to sing for the City Wide Memorial Day Ceremony in Owen Park (Monday, May 29 th )! This will include walking in the parade (starts at Wilson Park and ends at Owen Park). After the parade is over, we will sing for the ceremony. You will pick up your child at the end of the very end (we will sing throughout the ceremony). We encourage parents/family to attend the parade and ceremony to support your child and the meaning of Memorial Day. If your child has not been in the Northwoods Chorus, but would like to try it out for Memorial Day, we welcome them to join us (Grades 3-5). What to wear: All kids should wear Red, and Blue for the day (shorts, skirts, pants, capris, dresses, etc.). Please wear shoes that are comfortable for walking in. Drop off: All students will meet in Wilson Park at 9:00am (parade starts at 9:30am). Streets are closed off for vehicle access and it gets very congested around Wilson Park. So, it is important that drop off is done quickly and efficiently. You may need to park and walk your child to Wilson Park (organizers ask that you do not try to drive up to Wilson Park). We are one of the C s in the parade. If you cannot find us right away, please let parade organizers know you are with Northwoods Chorus, and they will get you to us. All students should be picked up at Owen Park. Wilson Park (500 South Barstow Street) Owen Park (First Avenue) I give my child, class, permission to participate in the Northwoods Chorus, as we participate in the City of Eau Claire Memorial Day Parade and sing for the Memorial Day Ceremony in Owen Park. I will have my child to Wilson Park by 9am on Memorial Day, and will pick them up again after they sing for the ceremony at Owen Park. Parent/Guardian signature Please sign and return by Friday, May 19 th. Please contact Ms. Miller if you have any questions. 715-852-4144 wmiller@ecasd.us
