Game times are set for 3:07 p.m. ET Friday and Saturday. Live Stats: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=25253 Live Video: http://www.americaonesports.com/partner_members.asp?id=482 Live Audio: http://beaverradionetwork.com/ The Record Ohio State enters with an overall record of 11-14-5, 6-13-5 in the WCHA. Last Time Out: No. 2 Wisconsin The Buckeyes dropped a pair of games to No. 2 Wisconsin this past weekend at the OSU Ice Rink falling by scores of 3-0 and 3-2. Senior goaltender Lisa Steffes stopped 31 Friday and 26 Saturday for a 57-save series. Friday night s contest was a one-goal game until the Badgers added two scores in the final five minutes of the third period. The Buckeyes battled back after falling down by two scores Saturday, cutting it to a 2-1 game when senior Ally Tarr scored her eighth of the season midway through the second. Freshman Hayler Studler tallied her first point on the play with an assist. After Wisconsin went up 3-1 the Buckeyes again cut the lead down to one, this time getting a score on the power play from junior Kari Schmitt. A would-be game-tying goal was waved off by the officials with 12 seconds remaining in regulation due to a hand-pass call. News and Notes Freshman Claudia Kepler has a team-leading 12 goals on the season. Gagne and Tarr are tied for second with eight goals scored. Kepler is 13th in the WCHA in goals-scored and has the second most goals-scored out of WCHA rookies. She is fourth in the NCAA for goals-scored by a freshman. She had a five-game goal-scoring streak come to an end after failing to score Friday against Wisconsin. Her streak is tied for the second longest all-time in OSU history. Sara Schmitt and Tarr are tied for the team lead with 24 points apiece. Sara is third in the WCHA, fifth in the NCAA, in defensemen scoring while her sister Kari is tied for fifth in the WCHA and tied for 11th nationally, with 21 points. Steffes is posting career-best numbers in goals-against average (1.87) and save percentage (.935). About Bemidji State The Beavers come in with an overall record of 9-18-3, 6-16-2 in the WCHA and are led by eighth-year head coach Steve Sertich. Offensively the Beavers are paced by sophomore Kaitlyn Tougas, who has a team-leading 17 points on six goals and 11 assists. Six other players have either 10 or 11 points on the season, including the Beavers leading goal scorer, sophomore Hanna Moher, who has seven goals scored. Freshman goaltender Brittni Mowat has seen the majority of time in net for Bemidji State, compiling a record of 9-15-3 with a goals-against average of 2.48 and a.917 save percentage. Buckeyes vs. Beavers Ohio State holds the edge in the all-time series with Bemidji State as the Buckeyes have a record of 32-17-11 against the Beavers. BSU took five-of-six points in the first meeting of the teams this season back on Nov. 8-9 in Columbus. Tarr, Kari Schmitt, Gagne and freshman Breanne Grant have all found the back of the net against the Beavers this season. Last season the Buckeyes went 3-1-0 against the Beavers, winning 4-1 and 10-1 in Columbus and coming out on both ends of 2-1 games in Bemidji. OhioStateBuckeyes.com WCHA Standings The Buckeyes sit in fifth place in the WCHA standings with 25 points. OSU is four points ahead of Bemidji State (21), nine points ahead of Minnesota State (16) and 11 ahead of St. Cloud State (14). The top four teams in the final league standings host WCHA First Round Playoff series, with winners of those bestof-three series heading to Bemidji State s Sanford Center for the WCHA Final Face-Off. Minnesota (67 points), Wisconsin (60), North Dakota (48) and Minnesota Duluth (43) have all clinched home ice for the first round. OSU could clinch fifth-place by taking at least five points this weekend in Bemidji.

Non-Conference Success Ohio State finishes its regular season non-conference slate with a 5-1-0 record; its only blemish coming in a 2-1 defeat to No. 10 Robert Morris Nov. 26. OSU started the season with a road win over then-nationally ranked Mercyhurst Oct. 5 and earned a sweep on the road at New Hampshire Nov. 30-Dec. 1. The Buckeyes finished off their out-of-conference schedule with a sweep of Penn State at the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes outscored their non-conference opponents 22-7 on the season. Tarr Moving On Up Senior forward Ally Tarr is making her way up the ranks on multiple program scoring lists. She currently sits 11th all-time at OSU in career points with 97 and is within striking range of at least three former Buckeyes including Shana Frost (98), Emma Laaksonen (99) and Amber Bowman (102). Former Buckeye Laura McIntosh is number one all-time with 170 career points. Tarr s 45 career goals place her eighth at OSU and put her within three goals of Frost (46) and McIntosh (47). Former OSU All-American Natalie Spooner has the most goals scored in Buckeye history as she finished with 100 in her career. Tarr is also second all-time at OSU in game-winning goals with 11. Only Spooner, who had 16 gamewinners in her career, has more. Up Next Ohio State returns to the OSU Ice Rink Feb. 21-22 against North Dakota for its final regular season series of 2013-14. Game times are set for 7:07 p.m. Friday and 4:07 p.m. Saturday. Senior day will be Saturday. Buckeye Olympians Three alumni of the OSU women s hockey program are in Sochi representing their respective nations at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Natalie Spooner (2009-12) is skating for Canada while Emma Terho (Laaksonen; 2001-04) and Minttu Tuominen (2010-13) are representing Finland. It is the first Olympic appearance for Spooner, second for Tuominen and a women s ice hockey record fifth appearance for Terho. 2014 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF Tickets On Sale Now Tickets for the 2014 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF, the women s WCHA playoff championship which will be held at Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn., March 7-8, are now on sale. Semifinal games will be played at 4:07 pm and 7:37 pm CT on Friday, March 7. The semifinal winners will then play at 7:07 pm CT on Saturday, March 8 in the championship game. Buckeyes Incoming Recruit Class Includes Seven Nate Handrahan, head coach of the Ohio State women s hockey team, has announced the signing of six new student-athletes to National Letters of Intent who are expected to join the program in Fall 2014. Buckeyes 2013-14 Captains The Ohio State women s hockey team selected redshirt senior Chelsea Knapp as captain for the 2013-14 season. Redshirt junior Kara Gust and junior Kari Schmitt will serve as assistant captains. New Look Staff Two new assistant coaches and a new volunteer assistant join head coach Nate Handrahan s staff for 2013-14. Assistant coach Carson Duggan comes to Ohio State after spending the last two seasons as head women s hockey coach at Trinity College (CT). Keith Maurice spent the last ten years as an assistant coach at Norwich University before coming to the Buckeyes as an assistant. Mikhael Horowitz enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Buckeyes after spending a year as an assistant coach and personal development coach for the Vierumaki A Juniors, a team located at the Finnish National Sports Institute in Vierumaki, Finland. Head Coach Nate Handrahan Nate Handrahan is currently in his third season at the helm of Ohio State women s hockey. In two-plus seasons as head coach Handrahan has compiled an overall record of 46-45-12. During the 2012-13 season Handrahan led the Buckeyes to a 19-win season, second most in program history and most since the 2006-07 season. Ohio State finished the year 19-15-3 overall and advanced to the WCHA Final Face- Off for the first time since 2010, sweeping Minnesota Duluth on the road in its WCHA First Round Playoffs series. In Handrahan s first season in charge of the program he guided the Buckeyes to a 16-16-4 overall record, 13-15-1 in the WCHA. Ohio State hired Handrahan as the head coach of the women s hockey team prior to the 2011-12 season. Handrahan is the second women s hockey coach in the 12-year history of the women s hockey program.
