Series History PC trails Radford in the Division I series that began in 2009, 2-7. The Blue Hose won the middle game of last year s series in Clinton after the Highlanders swept the Blue Hose in Radford in 2010. Brad Zebedis went 7-for-13 (.538) against Radford last season, hitting two home runs for four RBI. Chandler Knox picked up a save as well, allowing one hit in one shutout inning of relief. Scouting the Highlanders Radford enters the weekend with a 23-17 reecord and an 8-4 marker in Big South play. The Highlanders took two out of three road games against Winthrop over the weekend, with Saturday s loss ending a five-game Radford winning streak. Matt Hillsinger leads the team with a.353 batting average and eight home runs on the season to rank second in the Big South Conference in homers. On the Mound PC will likely start Bud Jeter, Chandler Knox and Beau Dees opposite Radford s Eddie Butler, Tyler Costello and Mark Peterson. In the team s last three series, the PC three have combined for a 4-2 record, an ERA of 2.73 and an opposing batting average of.231. Dees has collected consecutive wins against High Point and Charleston Southern while Jeter picked up a win against Charleston Southern on Friday. Knox ranks 10th in the Big South in innings pitched (61.1) and has not received a decision in his last two starts, despite going seven innings in each appearance with three combined earned runs. Last Time Out PC dropped a 16-4 contest against Furman on Wednesday. Jay Lizanich went 3-for-3 for PC while Next Up for the Blue Hose... PC continues its road trip with a three-game series at No. 14 Central Florida over the weekend, playing no midweek game due to final exams. The Blue Hose then end the seven-game road stretch with a May 8 afternoon game at Auburn.

The Long Ball Kenny Bryant smacked his team-leading seventh home run on Friday in a 2-1 home victory over Charleston Southern. The Blue Hose come into the weekend with 24 on the year, fourth-most in the Big South. Bryant ranks second among all active players with 23 career home runs, while Tony Micklon leads the pack with 27. Brad Zebedis ranks third, with 14. We re Going Streaking Junior catcher Robby Swab drew a walk on Wednesday against Furman to run his on-base streak to 14 games, tying Billy Motroni for the longest PC streak this season. Gabe Grammer, Andrew Williams and Motroni hold the longest active hitting streaks, at five games. Kenny Sure Can Kenny Bryant s.318 batting average puts him in the midst of a career year. The senior s previous best came in 2010, when he hit.276. He has also already set a new career high in doubles for a season (13) and he leads the team in RBI (28), home runs (seven), slugging percentage (.552). He has also committed only two errors at first base while registering 313 putouts. We ve Got Some First-Timers Over Here Of the 11 pitchers who have won games this year for the Blue Hose, seven of them captured the first win of their careers. Matt Nodelman (vs. Davidson, 4/10), Beau Dees (at Kennesaw State, 3/14), Chad White (at Davidson, 3/4), Tim Corbin (at NC Central, 3/7), Ryan Morris (vs. Wofford, 2/29), Chad Sanders (vs. NJIT, 3/11) and Gabe Grammer (at Clemson, 3/28) all notched career firsts by collecting victories in 2012. So Fresh and So Clean A pair of freshman have gotten off to quick starts in their careers, with Jay Lizanich leading the team in batting average (.327, 48-for-147) while Billy Motroni ranks right behind him in second (.326, 47-for-144). Newcomer Robby Swab has also done well in his first season since transferring from Young Harris College, hitting.320 at the plate and posting a.417 on-base percentage. Grammer also made his first career pitching start on March 28 against Clemson one to remember, holding the Tigers to two hits in six innings for his first career win. n the March 4 game against Davidson, Grammer hit a double in the top of the ninth before securing the save in the bottom of the frame. The win came hours after Grammer hit a two-run walkoff homerun to defeat Ohio in the 14th inning earlier in the day, 11-10. Muzzling the Bulldogs PC took the first and final games of its series against UNC Asheville on March 30 and April 1. Nine different Blue Hose picked up at least one RBI over the weekend. Catching the Tigers Gabe Grammer s stellar first career win helped PC secure its second in its last three tries against the Tigers and the first at Clemson since 1949. The Blue Hose coupled solid pitching with success at the plate, outhitting the Tigers eight to six and taking advantage of four Clemson errors. Seven of PC s eight runs came with two outs. Grammer allowed one run and two hits in six innings and the senior also matched a career high with three strikeouts. Freshman Michael Ricchi locked up his first career save with 1.2 innings of two-hit, one run relief. There Can Be Only One PC swept the NJIT Highlanders in a three-game series on March 10 and 11, picking up wins of 6-1, 7-1 and 4-3. Nate Chong went 5-for-9 over the series (.556 batting average) and drove in three RBI. Nine different Blue Hose drove in runs against NJIT and Chandler Knox, Bud Jeter and Chad Sanders all picked up wins.
