H A N Northeastern Charleston Elon Hofstra UNCW Delaware James Madison Towson William & Mary CAA BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Cam Devanney, Elon So., IF, Amherst, N.H./Central Catholic Devanney batted.727 (8-for-11) with a triple and two runs scored as Elon won two-of-three at UNCW last weekend. The sophomore had multiple hits in all three games, including a 3-for-3 effort with two walks in Saturday s 6-2 win and a 3-for-4 outing on Friday. Devanney raised his average to.457 in CAA play this season. Charlie McConnell, Northeastern Jr., OF, Reading, Mass./Belmont Hill McConnell batted.727 (8-for-11) with two triples, six runs scored and fi ve RBI s in Northeastern s three-game sweep of Towson. He was 7-for-7 over the fi nal two games. McConnell also stole eight bases, including a career-high fi ve on Sunday, to up his season total to 29 for the year. He tops the CAA with a.358 batting average. CAA BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK: John Rooney, Hofstra Jr., LHP, Melrose, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Rooney threw a complete-game, 3-hit shutout and struck out fi ve as Hofstra edged William & Mary, 1-0, last Friday. The left-hander took a perfect game into the sixth and posted his league-leading third complete game and second shutout of the year. Rooney, who improved to 7-0 with a 0.86 ERA, hasn t allowed an earned run in the past 44 innings dating back to March 23. CAA BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Ian Fair, Northeastern Fr., 2B, Walpole, Mass./Walpole Fair batted.600 (6-for-10) with a double, homer, four runs scored and six RBI s in Northeastern s three-game sweep of Towson. He went 3-for-4 with three RBI s on Saturday and was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI s on Friday. Fair extended his program-record hitting streak to 21 games and raised his batting average to.346.
