The senior outfielder had at least four hits in three different games and also recorded five stolen bases. Kenny is batting.379 for the season with a CAA-best 20 steals. Joe Van Meter, VCU Jr., IF, Oyster Bay, N.Y./St. Dominic Van Meter batted.765 (13-17) with seven runs scored and 13 RBI in VCU s four games. The junior tied a Rams single-game record with three homers in an 11-4 victory at VMI. Van Meter is riding a 12-game hitting streak and is batting a team-best.409 for the year. CAA BASEBALL Co-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK: Kyle Hald, Old Dominion Sr., LHP, Springfield, Va./South County Hald tossed his league-leading fourth complete game of the year in ODU s 9-1 win over Towson last Friday. The left-hander allowed just six hits and one run while striking out eight. For the year, Hald is 7-3 with a CAA-best 2.32 ERA and 77 strikeouts. Drew Leenhouts, Northeastern So., LHP, Franklin, Mass./Franklin Leenhouts threw his first complete game of the year in Northeastern s 4-1 victory over UNCW on Saturday. The left-hander limited the Seahawks to just six hits and fanned 10. For the season, Leenhouts is 2-1 with a 2.62 ERA and 61 strikeouts. CAA BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Kurt Wertz, Towson Fr., OF, South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Wertz batted.375 with four RBI in Towson s 3-2 week. The freshman outfielder had at least one hit in all five games, including a 2-for-3 effort with three RBI in the Tigers 4-3 win over CAA foe Old Dominion on Sunday. Wertz is hitting.275 for the season.

Of the 78 CAA contests played thus far, 27 of them (34.6%) have been decided by one run or less and 11 games have gone to extra innings. All 11 squads have had at least one conference game go into extra innings. DELAWARE (20-18, 3-9 in CAA) The Blue Hens posted an up-and-down 2-3 week. Delaware beat Lehigh 10-7 last Tuesday to win its record seventh Liberty Bell Classic title at Citizens Bank Park, but closed the week with three CAA losses at George Mason. Senior Steve Ulaky batted.526 (10-19) for the week with two doubles, two homers and seven RBI. He had two or more hits in four of the five contests and hit.615 in the Mason series. Senior Ryan Cuneo homered in the Hens first three games last week and has nine home runs for the season. Cuneo is also riding a teambest 15-game hitting streak. Freshman D.J. Long s 30-game hitting streak, which was the second-longest in the nation, came to an end at Mason last Friday. The streak is the longest in a single season at UD. Freshman pitcher Matt Storen allowed just two hits over six shutout innings and fanned nine to earn his first collegiate victory in the Hens 13-0 romp over Temple last Wednesday. GEORGE MASON (26-12, 10-5 in CAA) The Patriots have won seven straight CAA games after sweeping Delaware over the weekend. Mason has won nine of its last 10 overall, with the only loss coming at #2 Virginia (10-3) last Wednesday. Junior Shane Davis had a hit in all four games last week and batted.462 (6-13) with three doubles and three RBI. Shortstop Ryan Soares doubled four times and drove in two last week. For the season, Soares leads the league in doubles (23), is second in RBI s (54) and ranks third in batting (.413). Closer A.J. Johnson picked up a win and a save in the Delaware series and is 2-0 with six saves and a 2.29 ERA for the season. He has allowed only 11 hits over 19.2 innings. Senior Ryan Brecko improved to 3-0 this season after limiting the Hens to three runs on seven hits over seven frames last Saturday. He struck out a season-high seven in the win. The Patriots lead the CAA in team ERA (4.79) and fielding percentage (.970) and rank third in the league in batting (.327). GEORGIA STATE ( , in CAA) The Panthers rebounded from a 7-6 setback to Mercer by going in a CAA series at first-place VCU. Senior Bradley Logan batted.421 (8-19) with two doubles, a homer, six runs scored and seven RBI last week. In the process, he became GSU s all-time hits leader with 273. Logan also moved up to seventh on the CAA s career runs list (209) and ninth on the total bases chart with 450. He is batting.393 with 45 RBI and 54 runs scored for the year. Junior Marc Micowski batted.650 (13-20) last week, raising his season average to.409. Micowski tops the CAA with 56 runs scored. Three Panthers pitchers combined for 17 strikeouts at VCU on Friday, falling just one shy of a school record. Junior Aidan Francis fanned nine over 6.1 innings in a pair of appearances. GSU rallied for eight runs over the final three innings to tie the Rams on Sunday. The Panthers host George Mason in another key series this weekend. HOFSTRA (15-20, 6-6 in CAA) The Pride reeled off five straight victories last week, including a sweep of William & Mary that vaulted Hofstra into sixth place in the CAA standings. Senior John Kenny batted.695 (16-23) with seven runs scored and five RBI. He had at least four hits in three of the five contests and also stole five bases. Ethan Paquette homered in both games of Saturday s doubleheader versus W&M

Freshman pitcher Jared Rogers earned his third win on Saturday, limiting W&M to seven hits and three runs over 8.1 frames. Reliever Jeff Guthridge saw action in four of the five games last week and has a team-high 19 appearances. Freshman Matt Watkins picked up his team-high third save. JAMES MADISON (20-19, 11-4 in CAA) The Dukes went 0-3 last week, falling 12-7 to Liberty before dropping a doubleheader at Kennesaw State on Sunday. Senior Matt Browning became JMU s career doubles leader with 62 after hitting a two-bagger in both games of Sunday s twinbill. Browning also ranks among JMU s career top 10 in total bases (406/7th) and RBI s (161/9th). Senior catcher Brett Garner batted.625 last week with a double and homer. David Herbek was plunked twice last week and has now been hit 33 times in his career. Junior closer Kevin Munson suffered his first loss of the year on Sunday (6-1) after twice giving up leads. Sophomore pitcher Evan Scott, who hadn t thrown a live pitch since May, 2009, tossed a scoreless inning versus Liberty as he works his way back. Opponents batted.482 versus the Dukes pitching staff last week. JMU closes out the home portion of its schedule this weekend against Delaware. UNC WILMINGTON (23-18, 8-7 in CAA) The Seahawks fell 8-4 to 8th-ranked Coastal Carolina before losing two of three to league foe Northeastern over the weekend. Senior Robbie Monday belted three solo homers against the Huskies and moved into the top 10 on UNCW s career home run list with 25. He leads the CAA with 13 long balls for the season and ranks third in the league with a.718 slugging percentage. Senior Grayson Evans collected his 200th career hit in the series opener at NU. Evans is batting.345 for the season. Junior pitcher Justin Bradley earned his first win of the year on Sunday, allowing five hits and two runs over seven innings while fanning a career-high 10 batters. Thomas Pope s two-run triple in the eighth broke open a tie game in Sunday s 4-2 win. The Seahawks open an eight-game homestand versus rival East Carolina on Tuesday and then face a key conference series against first-place VCU this weekend. NORTHEASTERN (9-19, 2-10 in CAA) The Huskies split four games last week, but took two of three from UNC Wilmington over the weekend for their first CAA wins of the season. Northeastern won Saturday s opener over UNCW 4-3 as sophomore Matt Miller went 3-for- 5 with two doubles and a game-winning single in the ninth. Miller batted.313 (5-16) for the week. Freshman catcher John Puttress hit.357 (5-14) for the week with a triple, his first collegiate homer and three runs scored. Sophomore pitcher Drew Leenhouts turned in another outstanding start on Saturday, holding UNCW to a run on six hits over nine innings in a 4-1 win in the nightcap. Leenhouts fanned 10 and has struck out 61 in 44.2 innings this season. Starter Charly Bashara limited the Seahawks to two runs over 7.1 innings and struck out nine on Sunday, but didn t get a decision in the 4-2 loss. The Huskies are on the road this weekend at William & Mary. OLD DOMINION (17-27, 5-10 in CAA) The Monarchs dropped three of four last week, including a pair of CAA games to Towson over the weekend. ODU defeated the Tigers 9-1 on Friday in the series opener before a season-high crowd of 1,033. Senior left-hander Kyle Hald threw his fourth complete game of the year, scattering six hits and striking out eight. Hald, who improved to 7-3 with a 2.32 ERA, leads the CAA in wins, ERA,

Seven of ODU s 15 CAA games have been decided by only one run, and they are 2-5 in those contests. ODU is off until May 7 for final exams. TOWSON (14-28, 8-10 in CAA) The Tigers went 3-2 in five road games last week, including a pair of conference victories at Old Dominion. Towson edged the Monarchs 6-5 in 12 innings on Saturday on Chris Wychock s game-winning hit and then won 4-3 on Sunday as freshman Kurt Wertz went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Wertz batted.375 for the week and had a hit in all five games. Freshman Mike Volpe tossed five shutout innings in a 3-1 victory at Maryland last Wednesday for his first collegiate win. Junior Drew Permison threw the final two frames to earn the save versus the Terps and then tossed 5.2 innings and gave up only two runs to get his teamleading fourth win at ODU on Saturday. Senior pitcher Nate Curd made his 72nd career appearance at Navy on Tuesday, tying a school record. Senior Austin Hurd struck out a career-high 11 batters at ODU last Friday, but suffered the loss. Towson visits Delaware State before entertaining Hofstra this weekend. VCU ( , in CAA) The Rams went against Georgia State over the weekend, but remained atop the CAA standings. VCU opened the week with an 11-4 win at VMI in which junior Joe Van Meter went 4-for-4 with a school-record tying three homers and six RBI. Van Meter batted.765 (13-17) for the week with seven runs scored and 13 RBI. He s currently riding a 12-game hitting streak and is batting.593 with 27 RBI over that stretch. Senior Richard Gonzalez hit.529 (9-17) with four RBI last week and is batting.396 for the year. Sophomore Brent Mikionis was 3-for-5 with a double, his team-leading sixth homer and five RBI in Sunday s tie with the Panthers. Freshman pitcher Ryan Farrar picked up his first career win at VMI after throwing three scoreless innings. Sophomore Seth Cutler-Voltz fell to 5-3 after allowing six unearned runs versus GSU last Friday. He has thrown at least seven innings in his last eight outings. WILLIAM & MARY (22-17, 6-9 in CAA) The Tribe topped Longwood 10-9 to start its week, but then suffered three straight setbacks at CAA foe Hofstra over the weekend. Freshman Ryan Brown s RBI single in the ninth, which was his third walk-off hit of the year, gave W&M the victory over LU. It was the 400th career coaching win for Tribe skipper Frank Leoni. Sophomore pitcher Matt Davenport gave up just three runs over a career-long 8.1 innings and fanned nine at Hofstra on Friday, but took the loss in a 4-3 setback. Sophomore Tadd Bower had three hits in Saturday s doubleheader loss to the Pride, including his team-leading seventh homer. Bower tops the team with 44 RBI. Pitcher Logan Billbrough tossed 4.2 innings of shutout relief in Saturday s second game.
