The Cardinals are back on the road for the final game of the season in East Grand Forks on Saturday afternoon. Final score tonight Alexandria 3 Sartell 2 in OT. BOYS HOCKEY JV Alexandria 2 Sartell 1
On Thursday night the JV boys hockey team wrapped up their last home game of the season with a pretty strong performance. We played a good Sartell team that we beat earlier in the year by a score of 2-0. This game also ended up being close on the score board even though the score really doesn t represent how we really did a nice job controlling the game. We came out playing pretty well right away and capitalized on two of our chances in the first period. Scoring were Alex Jost and Wyatt Blahosky. Sartell ended up scoring on the power play as we had a stretch of the game where we were having a tough time staying out of the penalty box. After the first period the score was 2-1. We continued to pile up the shots in the second and third period, but we weren t able to convert on any of our chances. We ended up outshooting Sartell 42-18 and we really controlled the game spending much of the game in the offensive zone, but their goalie played well so the final scored ended the same as it was after the first period with a 2-1 victory. Our last game of the season comes on the road on Saturday against East Grand Forks, which is one of the only teams to beat us this year so the boys will have a nice chance for some redemption besides hopefully ended the season with a victory. There was a great crowd tonight so thanks to everyone who came out to watch the games. WRESTLING Wrestlers Finish Regular Season The final matches of the season for the wrestling team took place at Rocori last night and we entered the competition at less than full strength. We lost to Rocori by a final score of 33-32, Ryan Borris, Jeris Lemm, AJ Sparr, Logan Runge, Trappier Botz, Titus Chamberlin and Deryk Neu picked up wins for the Cardinals. In the Tech match the Tigers never lost a match after our Cardinals took teh 1st three bouts. Tech is one of the favorites in Section 8AAA and they had it on display last night. Ryan Borris, Adam Kremer and Jeris Lemm had victories for the Cardinals.
