In total, 500 students participated representing 17 schools from the area. AAHS DECA had 98 students compete and medaled in the following events. Alexandria HS had a strong showing and placed students in the top three in nearly every event. Competition does improve greatly at the state level when we face-off against Metro schools. Hopefully, our students realize embrace the challenge and are motivated for State on March 4 th -6 th in Minneapolis.

Travel and Tourism Team Role Play B 2 nd Place Rachel Kokett and Jadeya Peterson 3 rd Place Devany Johnson and Jacy Roste Allison Prestby selected to Represent Section 8AA in Triple A Award AAHS is pleased to announce that Allison Prestby has been selected to represent Section 8AA in the Triple A (Academics, Arts, and Athletics) Award program. The award goes to high school seniors who have a 3.0 or better grade point average and who participate in Minnesota State High School League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities. Allie will now advance to the state competition. League officials will announce the four award recipients (a girl and a boy from both a Class "A" and Class "AA" school) at an on-court recognition ceremony held during the Boys Basketball State Tournament in March. Each state award recipient will receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship. Congratulations and Good Luck Allie! INTRAMURAL There will be an Intramural Basketball Tournament on Sunday from 3:30-5:30 in the main gym. No need to sign up early, just show up with your team. POWERADE ATHLETE of the YEAR Apply to be considered as a Powerade s Athlete of the Year: Viking Coca-Cola is looking for outstanding students to give $1,000 each to 5 males and 5 females. You will be judged on community involvement and leadership qualities. This is open to any student regardless of extracurricular involvement. You will need to pick up a waiver form, application form, and submit a photo. Applications are due by February 20 and can be picked up in the main office. PERFORMER OF THE WEEK Emily Jones has been named Central Lakes Conference Defensive Performer of the Week in Girls Basketball.
