Air Capital Corvette Club Newsletter Volume 34 - Issue 9 September, 2001 Air Capital Corvette Club Officers: President............. Daryl Burbach 721-9377 Vice President............Don Crigler 729-0245 Secretary........... Gary Henderson 262-7165 Treasurer...........Candance Corbin 778-1409 From the potentate.... Many thanks to the members who helped work the autocross at Salina Don Crigler, Rex and Candy Corbin, Gary Henderson (both days), Randy and Lin Smith, John Fitsgibbons, Kevin Lundberg, Kevin Mansfield, Don Wickham, and Jay Wohlgemuth. Not only did they have a good time, they also raised a little over $100 for the club. In addition, Dick Volkman raced both days and Doug Mehl raced on Sunday. Doug, whose confidence level grew throughout the day, took a couple of excursions into the grass. There were a couple of stock Z06s running and one took the top time-of-day both days. This was over raced prepared Vettes. Certainly impressive cars. Our club may again be involved in the races October 13 & 14. Ray Wyatt, Terry Lane and Peggy, Rex and Candy Corbin, Pat and Barbara Patrick, Kevin and Cheryl Lundberg, Ken and Jean McGrew, and Daryl and Collyer Burbach made the trip to the Vettes on the Rockies. As always the weather was cool and the scenery was beautiful. On Friday, most of us made the big loop through the Rocky Mountain National Forest, Estes Park and back to Breckenridge. On Saturday, some of us heartier ones made the climb back up to the scene of the 1970 WSU football team plane wreck. Others went shopping and some went to the autocross. That evening, Ken and Jean McGrew hosted us for a happy hour at their children s (Kelly and Kim McGrew) new home in Frisco. I want to move to Colorado (sob). Sunday morning, we took in the street show on the main street of Frisco. Then it was off to rising temperatures and home. Unfortunately, I can t report on the drive-and-eat to Cottonwood Falls as I was lounging in Colorado. Daryl Burbach Officer at Large..... Connie Fitzgibbons 721-3371 N.C.C.C. Governor......... Larry Roth 755-2168 Newsletter Editor........ Kent Michael 682-4403 ACCC s Web Page....http://home.kscable.com/accc Page 1

September, 2001 Volume 34 - Issue 9 Minutes of ACCC Meeting August 8, 2001. Meeting was called to order by President Daryl Burbach. Minutes of July meeting were approved. Larry Roth advised he had some fliers from the NCCC if anyone was interested. Kent Michael advised he has a disc of Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 if anyone needed to down load it in their computer. It will allow you to receive the newsletter on your computer. Don Crigler advised he has some Corvette hats for sale, $15.00. Advised he would not be able to obtain any more. Also stated he found out that if you receive a ticket for speeding, less than 15 mph over the limit, in Wichita you may contact the city prosecutor between 3-5 pm on the 2nd floor of the city building and may have the ticket amended to a non moving violation so it won't count against you. This favor will only cost you $100.00 plus cost (?). Steve Guthery has a 1978 Corvette pace car for sale and a matching go kart. The club will be helping the with the autocross in Salina on the 11th & 12th of August. Ken McGrew won the door prize, an iron on patch. Daryl Burbach won the 50/50 pot. Gary Henderson Secretary September 7th. Drive & Eat Meet in the parking lot south of the Ice Sports Wichita Skating Rink 505 W. Maple. Hosted By: Gene & Marcene Brown Group Leaves Promptly at 7:00 PM NOTICE OCTOBER DRIVE-AND-EAT The October drive-and-eat will be on SATURDAY evening, October 13. This will be in conjuction with the Central Kansas Corvette Club autocrosses in Salina. They will be hosting autocrosses on both Saturday and Sunday and we are going to combine our drive-and-eat with their banquet on Saturday evening. This way, those who would like to try their hand at racing won't have to rush back to Wichita for the drive-and-eat. The races are a safe way to feel the potential of your car. Each day, there are 3 races with 2 runs in each race. You don't have to enter all 3 races if you don't want to although, if you have never done it before, you will find yourself hooked and want to run the set of 6. The drive-and-eat party will leave the Air Cap Truck Plaza at 5:45pm, Saturday evening, October 13. Page 2
