WE have the power to make a positive impact in the lives of others! Today, St. Mary s School starts Pennies for Patients and joins 29,000 schools nationwide in the fight against blood cancer. Over the next few weeks, St. Mary s School will be embarking on a meaningful journey that will offer your child the chance to experience the powerful feeling that can be derived from helping others. We are participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society s (LLS) School and Youth Program, Pennies for Patients. Pennies for Patients is a service learning program in which kids collect spare change to help those afflicted with blood cancers. Beginning today and continuing through March 28 th, students will collect spare change to support LLS s mission: To cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Each class has received their very own bank for collecting spare change. The student council representatives have been working with the classes to decorate their banks and make them their own. It is our hope that your child will take pride in having a sense of ownership over this bank and filling it up with spare change as many times as they like throughout the duration of the campaign. Plus, we have our own St. Mary s School fundraising page that can be shared with friends and family. Please visit http://nj.sy.llsevent.org/stmaryschool and select DONATE NOW. Our 2014 goal is to collect and donate $2014 to make a difference in the lives of others not someday, but today. During the next few weeks, we encourage you to fill up those banks with spare change and share our fundraising webpage with all your friends and family. In addition, we ask that you please take a moment to speak with your child about the value of helping others. Then, flip over those couch cushions and look under the car seats for spare change. Every little bit helps in joining LLS and the fight against blood cancers! Thank you in advance for helping patients with blood cancers to live longer and better lives.
