Gore Blvd Lawton, Ok 73505 Fax: 580-581-5537 Games 36-38 Abilene Christian April 12-13 Leading Off The Aggie softball team stepped up big in a key conference series with Texas A&M-Kingsville, getting the three game sweep of the Javelinas putting their record at 13-22 overall and 6-9 in Lone Star Conference games. As a team, the Aggies are hitting an even.300 with a.374 on base percentage and a.411 slugging percentage. In the 35 games the Aggies have played, CU is averaging 4.74 runs per game and 8.23 hits per game. They have a total of 60 extra base hits, with 35 doubles, four triples, and 21 homeruns. On the base paths, Cameron is 36 out of 43 attempts and defensively, they have a.941 fielding percentage with 1.7 errors per game. Presently, Ferrell has a.413 batting average with 43 hits, and 27 runs scored. Ferrell had hit safely in 15 straight games before ending her streak against ASU on March 8th. Hitting clinic Freshman Sonora Zukerman, who came to Cameron at mid-semester is leading the Ags with nine homers, she is third on the team with 25 RBI. The Dealer Sam Betts is second in the LSC in strikeouts with 132 in 132.2 innings pitched. 39 and counting Leslie Martini begins her senior season with 39 home runs in an Aggie uniform. Additionally, she has 49 multi-hit games, and 34 multi-rbi games. Martini also had a career high eight game hitting streak for the Aggies. Against Washburn, Martini tied a career mark in RBI s scored in a game with six after a pair of homeruns, one of which was a grand slam. Hebert named LSC pitcher of the week Lawton native Kelsy Hebert has been named Lone Star Conference pitcher of the week on 3/19 by the league s office in Richardson, Texas. Hebert had a stellar weekend against UIW tossing 13.1 innings with a 1.05 ERA, and earning her second win of the season over Incarnate Word. Her victory came on Saturday after throwing 6.1 innings and allowing four hits in a 1-0 pitchers duel. Hebert also helped the Aggies in the series opener going seven innings and giving up only two earned runs in an extrainning win. This was Hebert s second conference honor, she was named LSC North hitter of the week in the 2011 season. High School Connection Kelsy Hebert and Sonora Zukerman played together for MacArthur High School. Sisterly Love The Aggies have a pair of sisters on their 2013 roster, Leslie & Tara Martini, along with Sonia & Micah Foutch. Destination Canyon The Lone Star Conference, for the first time, will have a spring sports festival in the Canyon- Amarillo, Texas area that will include baseball, softball, and track & field. Entering her fifth season, Beth Watson came from the University of Central Florida where she had been the first assistant coach from the 2002-08 seasons. In 20 years of coaching in the NCAA, Watson has made the postseason 18 diff erent times, and qualified for regionals on three diff erent occasions. After the 2012 season Watson has put together 405 career wins as a head coach. During in her time at Cameron, Watson has won 105 games, including a 32 win season in 2009. She has also oversaw Ashton McBride win the Lone Star Conference Scholar Athlete award. Watson has also three of her student-athletes named to the All-LSC team. At UCF, Watson helped guide the team to a victory in the 2008 Conference USA Championship and a final national ranking of #29. She also coached 2 All- Conference First Team selections, 5 All-Tournament team selections, and 1 All- Freshman team selection. Prior to competing in Conference USA, the UCF Knights were in the Atlantic SunConference where Watson helped to lead the team to a conference championship in 2005 and a regional birth. In her seven years at UCF, the Knights only once finished below fourth place in their respective conference. Before coaching the Knights of UCF, Watson was the head coach at the University of Southern Indiana (Evansville) where she compiled a 204-119 (.632) record. From 1995-2001 the USI Screaming Eagles fielded one All-American player, nine All-Region players, and 22 All-Conference (Great Lakes Valley Conference) players under Watson. While at USI, Watson made the GLVC tournament in each year as head coach, finished runnerup in 1999, and won the 1998 championship. Watson in the 1998 season won 45 games, reached the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, and was named GLVC Coach of the Year. Prior to becoming the head coach at USI, Watson was the assistant coach at Missouri State University from 1992-95 while she completed her graduate degree. During the 1994 season, the Lady Bears won the MVC Regular season title and was the tournament runner-up. From 1988-92, Watson was the head coach at her alma-mater, the aforementioned Friends University, where she compiled a 102- Beth Watson Head Coach - Fifth Season Friends University, 1988 73 (.583) record. In 1989 she led the Falcons to a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) regular season title, as well as a tournament championship. These accolades resulted in Watson being named the KCAC Coach of the Year in 1989. The Falcons repeated as regular season champions in 1990. Friends University is an NAIA school. Watson is a graduate of Friends University (Wichita, Kansas) where she achieved her undergraduate degree in Science in Health and Physical Education. She then received her graduate degree in Science in Education Administration from Missouri State University (Springfield). Watson Coaching File Season Overall Pct. Conf. Pct.
